Historic hotel opens its doors after designer facelift

Marrakech’s illustrious La Mamonia hotel  has reopened following an extensive restoration project led by internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Jacques Garcia.

“An icon of Marrakech, La Mamounia is the incarnation of Moroccan identity and a true jewel among international hotels,” said general manager Didier Picquot.

A legendary property, La Mamounia is steeped in history and grace and has hosted a ‘who’s who’ of international royalty, politicians, celebrities and the jet set.

French fashion design team Terre & Ciel Conseil recently sewed the final buttons and sequins on La Mamounia’s tailor-made staff uniforms  which clothe all 777 employees and now the venue is ready to welcome a new generation of guests.

As well as the usual luxury facilities visitors to La Mamounia will find that little extra with a host of designer touches.

During the restoration a  fragrance expert, Olivia Giacobetti, famed as one of the seven ‘noses’ in the world, worked tirelessly to produce a series of scents for La Mamounia.

The hotel’s hair salon by Jean Michel Faretra Paris offers high-class styling for both men and women.

And Essences du Maroc, a specialist division of marocMaroc has created a luxurious skin care line exclusively for La Mamounia.

Room rates start at $775 and La Mamounia has 136 stylish guest rooms; 71 suites, including seven signature suites and three riads, each with three bedrooms.

Moroccan salons and a private terrace complete the scene with an ozone swimming pool.
