Mainguy returns to Dubai
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Dubai announced the appointment of Peter Mainguy as general manager.
Mainguy previously was general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Prior to his tenure in Egypt, he was hotel manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, promoted from the position of regional director of sales and marketing, Middle East.
Saleh promoted at Mövenpick Kuwait
Dori M Saleh, previously assistant director of sales of Mövenpick Hotel and Convention Centre Kuwait, has been appointed as director of sales.
Saleh started his career with a long experience in the hotel business especially sales, he is well known for his dynamic ways, good relations in both government and private sectors.
New appointments at Al Bustan Rotana
The Al Bustan Rotana Hotel has announced the appointment of Naeem Darkazally (right) as area director of sales and marketing for the Rotana Hotels based at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai. Jeanette Clift has been named the new executive housekeeper of the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel and the housekeeping area director for Rotana Hotels.
Haggag at Renaissance Hotel Dubai
Sayed Haggag has been appointed as the new director of human resources at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel. Haggag takes charge of this new role from his previous position as director of human resources at the Renaissance Hotel Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. He was also part of the opening team of the Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort, Egypt.
Prudhommeour goes to Doha
The Grand Regency Hotel, Doha, has appointed Patrick Prudhommeour as the director of food and beverage. He previously held the same position at the InterContinental Hotel, Abu Dhabi. He was also culinary consultant at the InterContinental Phoenicia Hotel before joining the Rotana Hotel, Beirut, as food and beverage manager.
MICE in Frankfurt for Schaefer
Corinthia Hotels International has announced the appointment of Silke Schaefer as regional director of sales & marketing for the MICE division in Frankfurt. Schaefer was previously director of sales and marketing for Porto Carras Resorts, Greece and has worked as global account director of groups and incentives for Starwood Hotels.
Parnis appointed at Corinthia Bab
Corinthia Bab Africa Hotel has named Christine Bartolo Parnis its director of sales and marketing. Parnis has held positions with hotel chains like Holiday Inn Crown Plaza, Starwood Hotels and the InterContinental Hotel group. Until recently she was the conference and banqueting sales director at the InterContinental Malta.
Rezidor SAS appoints Shaker
Rezidor SAS Hospitality has named Hany Shaker the director of sales - GCC and Middle East, for the hotel’s regional office in Dubai.
Shaker brings seven years of experience to the Rezidor team. He takes charge from his previous position at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Dubai where he was senior sales manager, GCC.
Salamony joins Taj Palace Dubai
The Taj Palace Hotel Dubai welcomed Sherine Salamony as director of public relations. Salamony has worked at various five-star properties in Cairo including the Swissôtel - El Salam, Sheraton Royal Gardens and the Sonesta Hotel Cairo & Nile Cruises. Most recently, she was head of communications and external relations at the German University in Cairo.
Gulf Air appoints Doyle
Gulf Air has announced the appointment of Pauric Doyle as the new vice president information technology. Rising from the ranks of Aer Lingus, Dublin, where he joined as a senior programmer and worked in various capacities, Doyle moved to the Emirates Group, Dubai in 1998 as senior IT Manager, where he was VP technology services.
Promotions at Marco Polo, Dubai
Marco Polo Hotel, Dubai, has named Sunil Marya its vice president and general manager.
He has been the general manager of the hotel for the last 10 years. The hotel also announced the promotion of Renhil Krishnan as director of food and beverage from his previous position as food and beverage manager.
Oldac moves to Bahrain
The Radisson SAS Diplomat Hotel, Bahrain, has appointed Murat Oldac as director of sales and marketing.
Oldac joins from the Radisson SAS Bosphorus Hotel, Istanbul where he was the director of sales and marketing with the pre-opening team. He has also worked for the Hilton International and Ritz Carlton Hotels.
Barakat joins Bavaria Executive Suites
Bavaria Hotels International announced the appointment of Dany Barakat as director of human resources for Bavaria Executive Suites Dubai. Barakat was until recently human resources manager for Abdul Rahman Hallab & Sons in Lebanon. His hospitality experience was gained in the Gefinor Rotana Hotel, Beirut, Lebanon.
New staff at Sheraton Dubai Creek
The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers announced the appointments of Wong Fatt Seng (left) and Patrizia Bernardi as its new training manager and sales account manager, respectively. Wong joins from his previous position at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Bernardi was previously with the Sheraton Deira Hotel as sales executive.
Al Sarkal heads up Qanat Al Qasba
The Qanat Al Qasba Development Authority in Sharjah has appointed Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal as chief executive officer. Al Sarkal was previously with the Dubai Shopping Festival, where he joined as finance manager and was promoted in 2005 as director of finance and administration. He will lead a team to take the QAQ to the next level.
Chatterjee joins BIHM
Tapan Kumar Chatterjee has joined Baisan Institute of Hospitality Management (BIHM), Bahrain as its executive director. Chatterjee has previously worked with the Oberoi Group of Hotels, India as general manager and Dadabhai Group associating with Elite Luxurious Suites, Best Western Baisan Tower and Hawar Resort Hotel.
Jumeriah appoints new senior VP
Jumeirah has announced the appointment of Marco P Nijhof as senior vice president, Gulf, based in Dubai. Nijhof joins Jumeirah from Serena Hotels in France where he was director of operations and development. He was previously general manager of the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka, Japan and later the Hyatt Regency in Thessaloniki in Greece.
Awadalla at Al Manshar Rotana Hotel
Rotana Hotels has named Mohamed Awadalla as general manager of the Al Manshar Rotana Hotel and Suites, which is due to open in November this year.
Awadalla joined the company as general manager of Al Maha Rotana Suites, Abu Dhabi. He has also worked with the Hilton Al Ain and Hilton Corniche in Abu Dhabi.
Stich goes to DC in new role
Allison Sitch has been announced as the new corporate director of Public Relations for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. She moves to the company's corporate office in Washington DC from her previous position as regional director of Public Relations, Middle East. Sitch has played a key part in the destination's emergence as a familiar place for business or leisure.
Mulhim takes over at Saudia
Khaled Al-Mulhim has been named the new director general of Saudi Arabian Airlines. He takes charge from his previous position as Saudi Telecom Company’s former chief executive. The move is expected to speed up the privatization of Saudia. Mulhim was tapped due to his success in turning STC into a profitable, partially privatized company.
