Holiday Inn Najran is the only chain hotel in the region offering five-star comforts in the picturesque lowland area bordering Yemen and southern Asir, surrounded by fine examples of local culture and antiquity.

"It is the only hotel in the region, which gives international standard of service and has highly qualified well-trained staff," said a hotel spokesman.

The five-storey hotel offers 82 luxury rooms including 12 suites in addition to five three-bedroom villas for family visitors.

The spacious, elegantly furnished rooms feature balconies and panaromic views of the area. All rooms feature direct dial phones, satellite television and mini-bar.

The hotel offers a full range of services including concierge, safe deposit boxes, secretarial services, turndown and valet and Internet links.

Two swimming pools, a health club with gym, sauna and Jacuzzi and a children's playground are just some of the facilities available at the hotel.

"Basically Najran is tourist destination and most of our guests are tourists and business travellers. Tourists from countries like America, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan come here to get a taste of the 4,000 years of history that Najran offers," said the spokesman.

"The hotel also arranges sightseeing tours with guides to the many places of historic interest within easy reach."

This summer until September 30, the hotel is offering a special package for SR175 ($46) per person sharing a double room inclusive of continental breakfast. The rate is subject to 15 per cent service charge.

The package offers added value benefits like complimentary airport transfer, free stay and meals for children under six years and late checkout.

Among the many historic sites in the region are the Najran Dam and Rahoom Castle located 35km from the hotel, the Al Okhood archaeological site (25km), the Al Aan (old mud) Palace (20km), Empty Quarter (60km), Najran Fort and Museum (25km) and a Bedouin jewellery market (15km).

Visits to date farms or traditional mud houses can also be organised while camel rides to get a feel of the desert heritage are available within the hotel complex.

For the more intrepid explorer who wishes to get a feel of the desert living, the hotel can arrange a private tent with modern facilities including air conditioning and television, said the spokesman.

After a day of activity, the hotel offers a choice of two restaurants and a lounge to relax in.

The Al Omaraa offers theme nights with Oriental or international cuisine while the Al Diyafa Coffee Shop serves three buffet meals daily.

The hotel's location has also made it a popular conference and functions venue and the use of its three meeting rooms is offered free for guests staying at Holiday Inn.

A special Wedding Package starting at SR8,000 is also being offered currently. The package includes a buffet for 100 guests, free banquet hall and decorated stage setup, complimentary Junior Suite and breakfast for the bride and groom and a five-tier wedding cake.
