TUI, the global tourism giant, has announced a major strategic partnership with the AI-powered travel platform Mindtrip, marking an industry-first move to integrate artificial intelligence directly into package holiday distribution. This collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between AI-driven travel inspiration and seamless transaction, providing crucial insights into the future of global travel sales.
At the core of the partnership is the integration of TUI’s booking capabilities, flights and hotels, into Mindtrip’s consumer experience. Users can now generate a highly personalised itinerary via natural language prompts and then click a “Book with TUI” button to seamlessly book a complete package. Previously, customers had to book each trip component separately.
“This marks a new approach in distribution: theoretical, AI-generated suggestions are becoming commercial reality,” explained Mircea Tudose, Managing Director Expansion Businesses, TUI Markets + Airline. “The partnership gives us important early insights into AI-based travel sales—benefiting all our sales channels, whether digital or offline.”
Mindtrip users begin by asking questions like “Where should I go in December?” The platform responds with rich content, interactive maps, and personalised suggestions. Users can then customise their plans by dragging and dropping elements, reading reviews, and inviting co-travellers, all within a single interface.
The integration is currently available in Belgium, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands. TUI notes that the partnership is a valuable learning exercise. “By working with Mindtrip, we are learning how travellers interact with intelligent AI assistants and how we can further develop our offering, in our app, on our website or in our travel agencies,” Tudose added.
Travel technology company Nezasa plays a critical role, providing the engine that maps the AI-generated itineraries to real-time inventory through TUI’s vertically integrated offer. This system, known as the ‘TUI Tours’ platform, allows flexible trip combinations to be put together instantly and is aimed at both travel agencies and TUI's online customers.
Andy Moss, Co-founder and CEO of Mindtrip, hailed the collaboration as "a shining example of what’s possible when you bring all aspects of the trip planning process together in one place. It’s just the beginning of a new era in travel.”
The partnership leverages TUI's unique competitive advantage: its integrated business model, which covers everything from booking to the flight and hotel stay. This allows TUI to make package holidays ready for AI-inspired booking while retaining comprehensive support and protection for travellers.
