QATAR Hospitality, a subsidiary of Qatar National Hotels Company, has introduced “Merweb”, Qatar’s first own hospitality brand name into the local market.
The first hotel property was inaugurated in January 2003 and already further plans have been set for local and international expansion. Another service-oriented business, Sealine Beach Resort is also set in the town of Mesaieed some 45 minutes from the capital city, Doha.
The name “Merweb” is derived from the Arabic word for “fortress”, and specifically refers to the ancient fortress located in the city of Dukhan, on the west coast of Qatar. This ancient citadel was founded in the Abbasaid era in the 9th century, and reflects the deep-rooted origins and culture of the Qatari people.
Located in the heart of the city of Doha, Al Sadd Merweb Hotel offers a truly personalised service in an elegantly designed format including eight suites, 78 single and 40 double rooms. All bedrooms are fully equipped with modern high quality facilities that exceed the expectations of any three-star hotel. The hotel is also well-equipped with business facilities including, “The Brouj”, an u-shaped meeting room with state-of-the-art business presentation equipment, the Business Centre offering fax machines, internet and even a typist, a Health Centre, parking facilities and airport transportation. On the other, Sealine Beach Resort is located in the town of Mesaieed next to the Khor Al Udied sand dunes, only 45 minutes away from the capital city Doha. The beach resort was first opened in 1994. Before this there was not much development and infrastructure in the area. Today, it has become a beautiful tropical paradise resort in the middle of the shifting hills of golden sand dunes. It has been constantly described as the secret Arabian comfort and, an Oasis of peace and tranquility.
Packed with a four-star amenities, the resort has access to the various swimming pools including a lagoon-shaped pool, sauna, tennis courts, wind surfing, water skiing, a health club and a fitness centre.
