The Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), part of the Corinthia Group, is presently managing a portfolio of 23 four and five star hotel properties in 11 countries primarily in central Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
However CHI could consider taking on management of a prime property as an entry point to the Arabian Gulf.
“We do not as yet have any interests in the Gulf, but we will favourably consider the Gulf market if the right management opportunity arises. The Gulf could be a very important market for us,” says Karmenu Vella, chairman of the Malta-based CHI and the nation’s former Minister of Tourism.
“Malta – the origin and the present base of the Corinthia Group – is a small island, but Corinthia, founded more than 40 years ago, managed to expand overseas, achieving a global outlook with investment and management interests in three Continents.”
Hotel interests stretch from Lisbon, Portugal to Budapest, Hungary, with ownership and management of hotels, in addition to parent company business interests in industrial and airline catering as well as construction and project management.
