Belgian national Marc Dardenne is the new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Dubai.

Dardenne joined The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in 1999 as the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Bali, a position he held for two years prior to coming to Dubai.

During his time in Indonesia, he was much acclaimed as one of the best in the industry after Conde Nast, Travel and Leisure and Top Hotel Spas of the World magazines consistently voted the hotel amongst the best in the world last year.

Twelve years with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts took Dardenne to Asia with assignments in Jakarta, Manila and Singapore. With very strong foundations in food and beverage, Dardenne took up his first position as an executive assistant manager in Germany when he 28 years old.

A wealth of experience spanning 22 years in luxury hotels and resorts coupled with the ability to speak four languages made him an exceptional choice of leader for the team in Dubai.

Asked how he felt about moving to Dubai, Dardenne said: "The opportunity to come to Dubai and be part of a region of substantial growth within our company was a unique challenge."

His objective for The Ritz-Carlton Dubai is to position the hotel as one of the top resorts in the world.
