Thomas H F Gertz has been appointed as the new general manager of the Gefinor Rotana Hotel in Beirut.
Gertz, 40, from Germany, moves to Lebanon from Dubai's Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, a hotel statement said. He began his career with the Swiss group Movenpick International in Hanover in 1997 after completing his hotel school in Germany. He held various positions with Movenpick including as the food & beverage manager in Jeddah and director of operations in Langenhagen, Germany. In 1991, he moved to Bahrain as the F&B manager at the Regency Inter-Continental Hotel. He returned to Berlin in 1993 as the director of food and beverage at Hotel Berlin and the following year, joined the Kurhaus and Congress Center in Stuttgart as its general manager. Prior to joining the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai as manager in 2000, Gertz worked with Hilton International in Istanbul and in Prague as manager.
