Mniemneh at Radisson SAS Amman
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, Amman recently welcomed Firas Mniemneh as the new general manager of the hotel.

Mniemneh brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry and joins the Radisson SAS Hotel from The Concord Hotel & Casino in Lagos - Nigeria where he held the position of general manager.

Van Der Elst joins Swissôtel Ankara
Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has appointed Michel Van der Elst as the general manager of the new Swissôtel Ankara which opened in May 2006. Belgian born Van der Elst, has been with Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts for many years and was formerly the resident manager of Swissôtel The Bosphorus in Istanbul and the area controller in the Middle East. 

Resslan heads Madinah Mövenpick
Abed Ali Resslan has been appointed as the new hotel manager at the Madinah Mövenpick. Resslan has worked with hotels such as Printania Palace Hotel Broumana Lebanon, Le Meridien and Hilton Hotels in Kuwait, Realco London, Safir International Hotel Management and Swiss Inn Plaza Kuwait where he was recently general manager.

Amari Hotels welcomes Lueke
Amari Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Christian Lueke as the new corporate director of sales and marketing for their Thailand properties. Lueke’s most recent position was director of sales and marketing for HMS International Hotel Company, which owns the Maritime brand with properties in Germany and overseas.

Raafat promoted at Sands Hotel
Hassan Raafat has been promoted to the capacity of general manager of the Sands Hotel, Abu Dhabi from his previous position as the director of sales and marketing. Prior to his  new position, Raffat has worked with the Sheraton Hotels both in Doha and Dubai, Imperial Suites Hotel in Dubai and also at the Ramada Hotel in Bahrain.

Young  goes to Abu Dhabi
James Young has been appointed as the new general manager for Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi. Young began his career with InterContinental London and has since then held various positions in the UK, Europe, Bahrain and Doha before moving to the Crowne Plaza Dubai where he has worked as hotel manager for the last two years.

New appointments at Kempinski MOE
Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates announced the appointment of Michael Henssler (stet) as general manager. Henssler was previously general manager at the Kempinski Julai’a Hotel & Resort in Kuwait. Alex Siju has taken charge at the hotel as the F&B manager and Doaa Amin has been appointed as marketing manager.

Baki is Starwood’s new regional DOSM
Starwood Hotels has announced the appointment of Ahmed Baki as the new regional director of sales and marketing for the Middle East. Baki started his career with Starwood in 1993. He moves to his new position following his tenure as the area director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the UAE since 2002.

Ruge joins Metropolitan Dubai
Iger Ruge has been appointed as the executive assistant manager food & beverage at the Metropolitan Hotel Dubai. He takes charge from his previous positions as F&B manager of Sheraton Sana’a Hotel, Yemen. Ruge has also worked with the JW Marriott Kuwait, InterContinental and Hilton in Germany.

Cooking up Storms at Al Aqah
Le Meridien Al Aqah announced the appointment of its first female executive chef, Suzanne Storms.
 Chef Storms joins Le Méridien Al Aqah after working at the Mirage in Las Vegas as executive chef, catering and banquets.
 She has also worked with the Emirates Towers, Dubai and the Fairmont, Chicago.

Bavaria appoints Windhoefel
Bavaria International recently announced the appointment of Volker Windhoefel, as general manager of Bavaria City Suites Doha. Windhoefel brings with him a strong background in the management of many well known European hotels, together with pre-opening and opening experience in the Middle East region.

Killinger at Four Seasons Alexandria
Stephan Killinger has been appointed general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria, scheduled to open in early 2007. Killinger has held several senior positions with hotels in Seoul, Sydney, the Bahamas and the Philippines, eventually joining Four Seasons in 2000, as a manager-in-training in Berlin, Paris, Toronto and Cairo.

El Sherif joins Millennium Hotels
Tarek El Sherif has been appointed at the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels as regional director of sales and marketing for the Middle East and North Africa region. El Sherif has previously worked with properties like the Cairo Meridien, the Rotana Hotels, Conrad Cairo and for a brief period in Hilton Short Hills in New Jersey.

Rotana announce new appointments
Rotana Hotels have appointed Mohamed Khorshed as the area director of sales & marketing, for all their  Egypt properties.  Noha Bassily joins as the area marketing & communications manager, Egypt. Prior to Rotana, she was public relations manager for the Sheraton Soma Bay and the Sheraton Miramar-El Gouna Resorts, Red Sea.

D’souza joins Alamo
Bibbs D’Souza, has been appointed as product manager with Alamo in the Middle East. He has been part of the start/set up of Holiday Autos a major car rental broker worldwide. D’souza has also worked with Mandala Tours and Rama Tours, Thomas Cook Al Rostamani Travels and Orient Tours and Travel Agency.
