Bahrain Hotels Company expects to officially open its new $8 million five-star resort in Zanzibar in April.
The Ocean Paradise Resort, which is being developed by the Bahrain Hotels Company, has a soft opening scheduled for March.
It will be the company’s first overseas property and managing director Mohammed Buzizi says it is already being marketed in Europe.
“We are marketing the resort everywhere in Europe and will start marketing it in our region also,” he said.
“The management team will be on board in late January or early February in time for the soft opening in March.
“Hopefully the official opening will be in April.”
The 100-chalet resort is being developed as part of a joint venture between the Bahrain Hotels Company and Bahrain-based Paradise Reality Holding Company.
It is located on a 6.5-hectare site on the east coast of Zanzibar and overlooks the Indian Ocean.
Project designs include two restaurants, a lagoon swimming pool, health and fitness centre, watersports centre and tennis courts.
They have been drawn up to reflect East African culture and the history of the Zanzibar Islands, which are also known as the Spice Islands and are situated 61km from the mainland of Tanzania.
