SIRIUS Aviation Capital Holdings, headquartered in Abu Dhabi Global Market, has announced that ITOCHU Corporation has taken a strategic shareholding in the company, joining existing investor Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners.
The investment
strengthens SIRIUS’s capital base as it targets growth in aviation asset
management amid structural shifts in the global aircraft market.
The deal comes as
aircraft deliveries slow and maintenance demands rise for next-generation
single-aisle engines, increasing reliance on mid-life aircraft.
This segment
represents around 42% of the global commercial fleet, making it the largest
portion of the market ahead of newer-generation aircraft.
Founded in 2019,
SIRIUS focuses on aircraft acquisition, lease management and remarketing, and
has transacted more than $1.2 billion in aviation assets for its investors.
The firm is
positioned to benefit from sustained demand for flexible fleet solutions as
airlines adapt to supply constraints and rising operating costs.
ITOCHU brings
decades of aviation experience and manages a global portfolio of more than 90
aircraft and engines.
Its entry is
expected to enhance SIRIUS’s access to Asian markets and strengthen industry
relationships.
The partnership
underscores growing investor confidence in mid-life aircraft as a key segment
of the aviation finance market.
SIRIUS said the
expanded shareholder base will support its long-term strategy to scale
operations and capture new opportunities across global leasing and asset
management.
Edward
Coughlan, Chairman and CEO of SIRIUS, said: “The ITOCHU investment will enhance
our capabilities and offerings, delivering increased value to our capital
partners and airline customers worldwide. SIRIUS's DNA lies in mid-life
aircraft, which offer risk-adjusted returns to investors and continue to serve
as the backbone and workhorse of commercial air travel.”
Yu Takahashi, General Manager in Aerospace Department of ITOCHU,
added: “We have known the Sirius team for many years and are pleased to
formalise our partnership through this investment. Together with the team at
Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, we will support Sirius’s next phase of growth,
drawing on ITOCHU’s deep network and decades of experience across the global
aviation sector.” -TradeArabia News Service
