Poolside at Four Seasons ... cool place to relax.

Four Seasons Hotels is now offering visitors to Egypt a choice of combining a holiday in historic Cairo with the sun and fun at the Red Sea resort area of Sharm El Sheikh.

The recent opening of the Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh gives visitors a chance to link up a stay at the Four Season Hotel Cairo at The First Residence to gain the best of the Egyptian experience.

Located on the Red Sea coast, among majestic limestone cliffs, the 200-room Four Seasons Resort is a self-contained village, cascading down a hillside to the sea below - an idyllic setting that appeals equally to visitors looking for a restful getaway and those seeking an outdoor adventure.

"Vibrant coral formations and marine life make this a premier destination for scuba divers and snorkeling enthusiasts from around the world," said a spokesperson.

"No matter what draws guests to Sharm El Sheikh, Four Seasons signature anticipatory service will make the experience unforgettable."

The resort's one- and two-storey villa-style accommodations are complemented by swimming pools, recreation areas and the beach. A 12-seat tram shuttles guests from below the main lobby to the pool area.

The 24 one-bedroom suites can easily accommodate families or private parties and the 12 deluxe one-bedroom suites have an additional terrace or balcony with a plunge pool extending from the king-sized bedroom.

The two spacious presidential suites are ideal for entertaining as they include a small service kitchen which is tucked away in a corridor, facilitating catering and food preparation.

The living area connects to two bedrooms and a three-piece powder room and the private terrace includes a refreshing plunge pool.

The Royal Suite is a luxurious residence with each of its three bedrooms having its own bathroom and panoramic views.

The 64 apartments on the property are designed for families or longer-stay guests. They include two spacious bedrooms, two terraces or balconies, and a kitchenette.

Sharm El Sheikh is a magnet for serious scuba divers as it is rated one of the world's optimum diving destinations, but beyond diving, the resort also offers a wide range of water sports such as water-skiing, parasailing and windsurfing.

Guests can also cool off at one of the resort's many pools, including an outdoor whirlpool and a children's play pool with nearby playroom and playground.

The resort's Spa and Wellness Centre offers an extensive menu of treatments including aromatherapy, thalassotherapy and various wraps - all inspired by desert and sea.

Five diverse restaurants offer a world of choice from Middle Eastern, Moroccan and Lebanese cuisines to authentic Italian dishes. Menus include Four Seasons Alternative Cuisine, a selection of nutritionally balanced healthier fare.

The resort is also an ideal location for meetings and incentives groups, supporting business travellers' needs with superior facilities including 21,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor meeting space.

In Cairo, the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence is conveniently situated for touring the city's great museums, monuments and bazaars. The 271-room luxury property offers views of the Nile, the Botanical Gardens and the Pyramids. The flying time between Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh is about 55 minutes.

Four Seasons Hotels continues to expand its international presence, and is set to open two more properties in the Middle East in the next 12 months.

Properties under development in the Middle East include Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Amman, Jordan; Doha, Qatar; and Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt.
