Hyatt’s global corporate responsibility platform, Hyatt Thrive, has marked April as its Global Month of Community Service, encouraging associates to unite across the world and to roll up their sleeves and give back to their local communities.
This year will see the focus placed on quality books and literacy among Hong Kong’s youth continue. First cemented in 2012, the successful collaboration between Hyatt Thrive and Bring Me A Book Hong Kong will carry on bringing the passion of storytelling and reading to underserved children in Hong Kong.To celebrate this on-going exciting collaboration, a team of up to 30 Hyatt Thrive volunteers read aloud to an enthusiastic group of young children today at HKFYG Ching Lok Kindergarten, Ching Lok Nursery (Sai Wan Ho).“The ability to bring joy to local communities at such an intimate level, where children are able to engulf themselves in a world of great literacy, proves a wonderful opportunity to give back. As our third library donation with Bring Me A Book™ Hong Kong, reaching hundreds of children in Hong Kong so far, our determination to reveal storytelling and boost literacy levels only continues to grow,” said Gordon Chan, Hyatt Thrive Committee Leader in Asia Pacific. “This event gives our associates the chance to give back to the community in which they live and work, spark an interest in reading and educate a younger Hong Kong generation.”Continued enthusiasm for the collaboration is also shared by Pia Wong, Bring Me A Book™ Hong Kong “Having proved a hit in 2012, the continued cooperation between Hyatt Thrive and Bring Me A Book™ Hong Kong is set to contribute to the enrichment and education of local children. I cannot stress enough the importance of literacy enhancement, and the level of happiness such an event brings to a group of kindergarten and nursery children.”Sharon White, Vice President of Human Resources, Asia Pacific, at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, touches on the wider goals of Hyatt’s Global Month of Community Service: “Being so committed to enhancing community opportunities is something that Hyatt strives to achieve on a global scale. During our Global Month of Community Service, we reach into the local communities to demonstrate the Hyatt’s Family passion for care and aim to nurture and show commitment to the local environments in which we operate.”The global corporate responsibility platform, Hyatt Thrive, continues to give back to the community, making the Hyatt associates proud of their workplace. The global philanthropy programme, Ready To Thrive, which is set up by Hyatt, carries on investing in the education of underserved children in Hong Kong, giving them the chance to experience a higher level of education and providing them with a skill set through Hyatt’s commitment to service its local communities where they operate. Hyatt’s Instagram programme has been one of the vital sources to making Hyatt’s dedication to the community a success here in Hong Kong, as it has encouraged associates and Hyatt guests to join in the community service.
