Viceroy Group names new CEO
Viceroy Hotel Group announced Bill Walshe as chief executive officer. Walshe was previously with the Dublin based international luxury hotel group The Doyle Collection as the CEO. Prior to that Walshe has also served as chief marketing officer for Jumeirah Group at a time of tremendous growth for the international luxury hospitality group.
New role for El Behi
Ramada Downtown Dubai has promoted Wael El Behi as general manager. El Behi joined Ramada Downtown in June 2011 as executive assistant manager and assumed the acting general manager role since September 2011. He was previously general manager at several Coral Hotels & Resorts properties.
Elias joins Grand Millennium Al Wahda
Atef Elias takes charge as general manager of the Grand Millennium Al Wahda Hotel in Abu Dhabi. With a background in sales and marketing and over 26 years of experience in the industry Elias’s qualifications include hotel development, statistical and financial analysis, communications, marketing, human resources, training and F&B planning.
New GM for Mövenpick Jordan hotels
The Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea has announced Peter Hoesli as general manager and regional manager– Jordan. Hoesli has worked across Mövenpick hotels in Egypt, Gaza, Ramallah and Jordan. He replaces Bruno Huber who has been promoted to the position of vice president operations – Asia.
Jumeirah Group appoints Saliba
Jumeirah Group has appointed Azar Saliba as hotel manager at Mina A’ Salam in Madinat Jumeirah. Saliba is the youngest hotel manager within the Jumeirah Group and was previously resident manager at Jumeirah Beach Hotel. He leaves behind a successful track of achievements within the group since his joining in 2006.
Ball takes charge at Amari Doha
The Onyx Hospitality Group has announced Damian Ball as general manager, at the soon-to-be-launched Amari Doha, Qatar. Ball brings with him 18 years of experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He started his career in front office and has since held various positions at properties in Australia, Philippines and the Maldives.
Bhutia joins Dusit Devarana New Delhi
Dusit International has appointed Mahema Bhutia as director of sales and marketing for Dusit Devarana New Delhi. Bhutia brings 12 years of experience having worked in the sales and marketing team for Hyatt Regency Pune and Mumbai; Marriott Executive Apartment and Renaissance Mumbai Hotel and Convention Centre and the Oberoi Group in Mumbai.
Gulf Hotels Group appoints McKie
Gulf Hotels Group have announced Ian McKie as general manager for the Gulf Hotel Bahrain as well as area general manager for Bahrain – overseeing The K Hotel and Amwaj Waves. His experience spans over 27 years in hotels in the Far East and Asia with 10 years spent as general manager.
Missoni Kuwait appoints new DOSM
Hotel Missoni Kuwait has appointed Wassim Tarabay as director of sales and marketing. In 2007 he joined Hyatt Regency Dubai as director of sales before returning to Saudi Arabia to join Park Inn by Radisson as director of sales and marketing, his last position before being transferred to Hotel Missoni Kuwait.
Emirates appoints Bennett
Emirates Group has announced Marc Bennett as divisional senior vice president of its Destination & Leisure Management (D&LM) Division. Bennett joins Emirates from TUI Travel PLC’s European sport businesses where he was managing director for the EMEA region. Before that he was managing director of Cruise Thomas Cook, the UK's largest cruise retailer.
Time Hotels welcomes Rimkute
Vitalija Rimkute has been appointed at Time Hotels as sales manager Leisure. With a wealth of experience in overseeing worldwide travel trade business Rimkute has worked previously with Arabian Explorers and Hilton Hotel. In her new position she will be responsible to develop business for all properties managed and operated under Time Hotels.
Rotana welcomes Dayem
Tarek Abdel Dayem has been appointed as a cluster director of sales for Sharjah Rotana and Centro Sharjah. Dayem started his career in 1995 with Marriot Hotels and Radisson Blu in Egypt. He moves from Embassy Suites and Golden Tulip Hotel in Sharjah where he worked for six years.
One&Only appoints Mayman
One&Only Cape Town has recently appointed an Arabic speaking concierge for their GCC guests. Madnee Mayman, an Arabic speaking South African, has been in the hospitality industry for over 12 years, and has explored the city and its surroundings and will share his extensive knowledge about the region with One&Only guests.
Adnec appoints new CEO
Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has appointed Pieter Idenburg as its new Group CEO. Idenburg has held senior positions in a number of international organisations such as American Airlines, The Walt Disney Company and British Airways. Most recently he was CEO of Suntec Exhibition & Convention Centre in Singapore.
Saeed joins Millennium Jordan
Millennium Hotel Amman has appointed Husam Saeed as revenue manager. With a wealth of hospitality experience, Saeed has previously worked with some of Jordan’s premium hotels such as Four Seasons Hotel, Landmark Hotel & Conference Centre and InterContinental Hotels Group. Most recently he was revenue manager of Le Royal Hotel Amman.
New team at Mandarin Oriental
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed Adrian Hearn (right) as regional director of sales, MidEast and Aiman Roujouleh as regional director of sales, KSA, Kuwait and Bahrain. Hearn moves from the Hyatt Capital gate where he was DOSM while Roujouleh was with Four Seasons Hotels in Saudi Arabia as associate regional director of sales.
RAK Airport strengthens team
RAK International Airport has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Andrew Gower (right) as airport director and Mohammed Qazi as commercial director. Gower joins the team from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, UK while Qazi has previously worked across 13 UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
New team at Moevenpick Makkah
Moevenpick Hotel & Residence Hajar Tower Makkah has appointed Mahy Medhat (right)as public relations and communications manager, responsible for executing the hotel's PR objectives. The hotel also welcomed Sherif Qadous as the new revenue manager. Qadous started his career with Moevenpick El Gouna Egypt in 2005.

Patima Onnorm has been appointed as director of sales and marketing at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel, Dubai, UAE. Prior to her new role Onnorm was assistant director of sales at Grand Millennium Al Wahda, Abu Dhabi, UAE. She brings many years of experience and understanding of the GCC corporate market.

Emirates has announced a number of management changes to its Commercial Operations team. Majid Al Mualla (right) joins as senior VP commercial operations GCC, Middle East and Iran, Ahmed Khoory for West Asia and Indian Ocean, Salem Obaidalla for Far East and Australasia and Richard Jewsbury for the Europe and Russian Federation.
