When undertaking the interior completion of a privately-operated aircraft, whether it is a Boeing Business Jet or an Airbus A340, Lufthansa supports the VIP customer during the design process. Most of the completion or cabin modification work is undertaken in Hamburg. Wherever possible, the design team places great emphasis on undercutting the target weight, achieving minimum down-time and meeting the requirements of a most demanding and critical clientele for the very best of in-flight entertainment and communications systems. The technological systems and cabin furniture are mostly developed and made in-house by Lufthansa Technik.
Transformation of the customer’s vision and design ideas into a tangible reality is facilitated by Project U. Supported by a “Design Explorer” an animated questionnaire helps Lufthansa Technik’s design engineers to create an interior that combines emotional and design aspects with the technical and engineering options in a creative process together with the customer.
Since 1999, the Hamburg Completion Centre has fitted out 29 aircraft (seven widebodies, twelve BBJ, 5 BBJ2 and five ACJ). Since the fall of 2005, Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg has been the exclusive completion centre for the Bombardier Challenger 850 Business Jet.
Thanks to its development and implementation of the latest technologies in the area of cabin management and in-flight entertainment, the company has become the innovation leader in this sector. The customer can choose from a wide range of components such as LCD-displays, loudspeaker and antenna systems, high-speed on-board internet, live TV, mobile access router and wireless access points, many of which are already in commercial aviation use. The technical experience gained over several decades from one of the biggest worldwide maintenance, repair and overhaul suppliers for large airlines, is also available for large pri-vately operated Airbus and Boeing aircraft. With Platinet, the global support network for operators of large corporate aircraft, Lufthansa Technik goes much further than traditional FBO services and guarantees comprehensive 'get-me-home' support. This 24/7 service inc-ludes VIP handling, FBO services, line maintenance, personnel assignment and AOG support. Under this umbrella, Tulsa-based Bizjet provides technical services for all leading ty-pes of corporate aircraft in the US market; Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) in Berlin undertakes the maintenance and technical support of Bombardier business aircraft.
The range of services for corporate and business customers is rounded off by assistance in the selection of suitable aircraft, the purchase process and support for entry into service. Lufthansa Technik also provides assistance in the subsequent sale of the used aircraft, advice on any necessary modifications and transition checks.
