Last month, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts officially launched its new-look Club InterContinental experience in Dubai at InterContinental Dubai Marina, making it one of the 70 hotels worldwide to be featuring this special room category.

'Club InterContinental is much more than a room category,' Bruce Ryde, director Brand Marketing, Luxury and Lifestyle brands, IHG Asia, Middle East & Africa, is quick to add. 'It includes an array of bespoke privileges from the moment you make your Club InterContinental reservation to your departure from the hotel.'


Ryde informs us that all four InterContinental Hotels in the UAE, and most of the InterContinental hotels in the Middle East and Asia have this new concept that the team has worked on for the last 18 months.

'Club InterContinental is our elevated guest concept,' explains Ryde, who is based in Singapore. 'InterContinental celebrates 70 years next year. Back then when it was started by Juan Trippe, founder of Pan American Airways, travel had an element of glamour. There were no crowds and queues and immigration issues like today.

'What we like to believe is that with InterContinental, we bring a little bit of the allure and charm back into travel. And that’s the philosophy behind Club InterContinental – to bring a little bit of the glamour back into travel along with personalised attention.'

Much like the enhanced business-class service provided by leading airlines, Club InterContinental is a bespoke, end-to-end service.

'We think that our target customers are really looking for that personalised experience throughout their journey. When you book with Club InterContinental, an airport representative meets you and personalises your airport experience, we call you before your arrival and check if you need any extras, at the hotel you can check-in in the room, in the lobby or in the Club Intercontinental lounge.

'We do not tell our guests where to check in, they tell us where they’d like to,' says he.


Guests can enjoy an array of services including dedicated staff on hand to assist them, Club rooms and access to the exclusive Club InterContinental Lounge.

Included in the Club InterContinental concept are: complimentary pressing, local calls and luxury amenities in the best rooms in the hotel with a stunning view of Dubai Marina. These exclusive Club rooms are in the higher floors of the hotel. Complimentary gourmet breakfast buffet, afternoon tea and evening drinks with canapes are all freely available in the exclusive Club InterContinental Lounge and the outdoor terrace on the 39th floor of the property.

Added services with Club InterContinental include deals with the hotel spa, a limousine airport pick-up and drop service, a guaranteed reservation at the hotels’ popular food and beverage concept Marina Social.

The Club InterContinental offering focuses on providing a personalised end to end experience for guests, from the moment they make a reservation to stay at an InterContinental hotel or resort until the end of their stay. To enhance the Club experience InterContinental recently launched a dedicated site featuring Club InterContinental’s exclusive benefits and privileges for guests and enabling them to book Club InterContinental accommodation.
