Set between ancient rainforests and the South China Sea, Club Med has launched its newest resort in Malaysia, Club Med Borneo, located in Kota Kinabalu.
The property is
positioned as a nature-led destination combining adventure, cultural immersion,
and all-inclusive hospitality in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
The resort features
397 rooms, including suites and family accommodations designed for different
types of travellers.
Dining is a central
part of the experience, with The Alam offering an international buffet across
four dining spaces.
The Laut, Gourmet Club
provides a more refined setting with curated dishes and beverages, while The
Pasir serves drinks in a relaxed environment.
Guests also have
access to more than 20 land and water-based activities, alongside wellness and
fitness options, allowing for flexible stays ranging from active to
leisure-focused.
Borneo’s natural
environment shapes much of the resort’s identity.
Guests can explore
rainforests home to wildlife such as orangutans and proboscis monkeys, as well
as take part in activities like mangrove kayaking, jungle exploration, and
flying trapeze.
Curated excursions
extend the experience further, including river cruises, firefly viewing,
cultural visits, snorkelling at Pulau Tiga, and wildlife tours in Sandakan.
The resort is designed
with families in mind, offering children’s clubs for ages four months to 17
years, along with tailored facilities and family-friendly accommodations.
The aim is to create a
setting where different age groups can participate in structured or independent
activities while sharing the same destination experience.
For meetings and
events, the property includes flexible conference facilities with four meeting
rooms that can be combined into larger spaces, supported by dining venues that
can host up to 475 guests, making it suitable for corporate and incentive travel.
A dedicated Exclusive
Collection area named Mutiara provides a more private experience, featuring its
own pool, lounge, and bar.
The resort also follows the “Happy to Care” philosophy, encouraging engagement with nature and local culture while supporting sustainability efforts, including pursuing BREEAM certification for environmentally responsible design and operations. -TTN
