Moutte moves to Marriott
The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Kuwait City and Arraya Ballroom recently welcomed Gerald Moutte as general manager. Moutte joins from the Renaissance Sharm El Sheikh where he was the general manager. Hitherto, he was associated with the JW Marriott Cairo as the director of food and beverage.

Cassin joins Rotana
The newly opened The Cove Rotana Resort, Ras Al Khaimah has appointed Magali Cassin to take charge at her post as marketing and communications executive moving to Rak Al Khaimah from Europe. Cassin holds a masters degree in business administration and was previously an intern at the Al Bustan Rotana Dubai.

InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut recently appointed Waike Papke as the new director of sales and marketing. With more than 14 years of hotel sales and marketing experience Papke has previously held positions as director of sales and marketing in Russia and Bahrain. She joined in September 2009.

The Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel has announced the promotion of Shaher Abu-Haikal as director of sales. Abu-Haikal will lead the restructuring of the sales and banquet sales management to strengthen and sustain the position of the property in the increasingly competitive business and leisure market.

Samaha appointed at Media Rotana
John Samaha has been appointed assistant director of human resources at the Media Rotana Dubai. Samaha recently worked in Australia in a logistics company within the human resources department and previously in Lebanon where he started his career in 2001. He has seven years of HR experience.

Three-in-one post for Lone
The Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center, Qatar has appointed Farhan I Lone as hotel manager for the three hotels. Lone has been with Marriott for more than 20 years and moves from the Orlando Airport Marriott, where he was assistant general manager.

Ehab Ahmed joins the team of the Doha Marriott’s executive committee as the hotel’s director of finance. Previously working with Marriott Hotels in Dubai, Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh and Taba Heights, he is responsible for achieving financial goals and developing and implementing hotel-wide strategies.

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Khamis Kazzaz as the new general manager of the Radisson Blu Residence, Dubai Marina. He joined Rezidor as director of sales for the region in 2001 and was, till recently, executive assistant manager at the Radisson Blu Tala Bay Resort in Aqaba, Jordan.

Dara Pinke joins Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts as director of human resources for the four new Dubai properties: Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, Oceana Hotel & Spa, The Royal Amwaj Resort & Spa and Mövenpick Hotel Deira, all set to open next year. She joins Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts from Essque Hotels.

IHG Operations Egypt & Libya announced the promotion of David Traynor from area director of sales and marketing IHG Egypt & Libya to executive assistant manager for InterContinental Cairo Citystars. Prior to joining IHG in 2005, Traynor worked for many of the leading hotel management companies.

Ayman Gharib has been appointed as EAM food and beverage for the Raffles Dubai Hotel. Gharib has previously worked in Doha, Beirut and Ajman. Clement Au has been appointed as Cathay Pacific’s country manager for UAE & Oman. Au joined Cathay Pacific in 1998 in the engineering department and has since worked in many areas in Cathay Pacific. His previous posting, before the UAE, was in the product department looking after in-flight entertainment.
