An impression of NCTH’s new Capital Centre development

THE Abu Dhabi-based National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels (NCTH), owner of the five-star brand Danat Hotels and Resorts, has announced plans for its Capital Centre development project.

“This is a Dh1 billion ($272.5 million) investment for NCTH, and another indication of the strength of our commitment to Abu Dhabi as a global capital,” said Abdulla Khalfan Al Romaithi, NCTH managing director.
Situated on the prime Al Khaleej Al Arabi coastal road, NCTH plans to develop a five-star luxury hotel property with more than 724 rooms, suites and apartments, which will make it one of Abu Dhabi’s largest hotel and conferencing facilities.
It is due to open in 2010. Designed by RMJM, the concept will include state of the art design, with emphasis on space and light, maximising the coastal views which the 10,360-square-metre plot will provide.
The hotel will have a combination of executive suites, club suites, two bedroom suites and luxury apartments with floors dedicated for a business club class, a ballroom, which will have a capacity for 1,000, and 15 separate meeting and conference rooms. The complex will also house nine restaurants  and a roof top bar specialising in contemporary cuisine concepts with international flare.
As a mixed-used development there will be a retail area of 1,200 square metres, providing premium brand retail opportunity and a 700 space car park.
NCTH is in discussions with international hotel operators and will be making a further announcement later in the year.
