Diriyah, Saudi Arabia

Nestled in the heart of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Diriyah, known as the City of Earth, is a treasure trove of history, culture and innovation. Over the course of two days, TTN had the chance to explore the old capital of Saudi Arabia – where the past meets the future.

Diriyah is home to Wadi Hanifah, one of the largest historical national parks in the Kingdom. It aims to provide visitors with expansive open spaces, natural trails, wellness facilities, hotel experiences and cultural activities.

Historically, Diriyah was a vital urban centre in the heart of the Najd region. This convergence of human activity and natural resources made it one of the most important settlements on the Arabian Peninsula. Diriyah's unique features were shaped by its oasis location within the desert, enhancing its significance as a settlement.

VISION FOR THE FUTURE

The masterplan model unveiled for the Diriyah project at the Diriyah Company headquarters is breathtaking, showcasing how this $62.2 billion development will transform into a vibrant hub of life and culture. As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, this giga-project under the Public Investment Fund aims to redefine living, working, shopping and dining experiences in a place rich in heritage.

The Diriyah Gate project will become a cultural and lifestyle destination, featuring iconic meeting spaces, several museums and over 100 restaurants that blend traditional Saudi culture with modern amenities. Covering 14 sq km, Diriyah will include 40 hotels and over 300 branded residential units, with four metro stations enhancing connectivity to Riyadh.

The Diriyah Company is committed to preserving the area’s historical identity while fostering economic growth and tourism.
