Schwartz set for new Mövenpick Doha
Cypert Schwartz is the new general manager at the new Mövenpick Tower and Suites.
Schwartz started his career in front office and moved to food and beverage, serving at various hotels in Switzerland. His first assignment as general manager was with the Mövenpick in Yemen. He has been with the Mövenpick Group since 1991.
New role for Slewka
Accor Middle East has appointed Anthony Peter Slewka-Armfelt its Middle East director of sales and distribu-tion. He is tasked with providing effective coordination, support and direction to inbound, outbound and intra-regional sales. He was previously director of business development for Accor Hotels Dubai World Trade Centre.
New staff at Al Murooj Rotana
The Al Murooj Rotana Hotel & Suites recently appointed Johanna Horn (left) as its conference and banqu-eting director. She has worked with various hotels in Germany and brings an expertise in the field to her new job.
Charles de Flamingh is the hotel’s new security manager, moving from the Traders & Shangri-La hotels.
New staff at Sheraton Dubai Creek
The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has appointed Sarah Louise Kling and Fady Atwani as its new sales manager and account manager respectively.
Kling was previously conference and banqueting coordinator at Le Meridien Bruxelles. Atwan moves from his old position as credit manager at the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Resort & Towers.
Gulf Air names new India GM
Gulf Air has appointed Richard Hirsch its regional general manager for the Indian Sub continent.
Hirsch comes to Gulf Air after 18 years with British Airways in various strategic sales roles in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He will look after Gulf Air's India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal markets.
Naulleau joins InterCon Taba Heights
The InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Franck Naulleau its general manager for the new InterContinentalResort Taba Heights, Egypt.
Naulleau joined the group as general manager at the InterContinental Sharm El Sheikh and looks forward to the challenge of working closely with the team in his new role once again.
Giuge heads to Bangkok
Marie Giuge has been named director of sales and marketing for Six Senses properties in the Indian Ocean and Middle East including the Soneva Fushi, Soneva Gili Maldives, and Evason Hideaway at Zighy Bay in Oman. She joined Six Senses in 2004 as the director of sales and marketing in Vietnam, at Evason Ana Mandara.
New appointments at Habtoor Grand
The Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa has appointed Yogesh Mahajan as its new chief engineer. He moves from the Marriott Kuwait.
Jacky Gerault (above) has been named the new director of food and becverage, moving from Le Meridien. Georgina Angeles joins as the hotel’s new PR and marketing assistant.
Sagario goes to Radisson Media City
The Radisson SAS Dubai Media City has named Bessie Sagario as its new marketing and communications manager.. She was marketing services manager at the Taj Palace Dubai and has nine years’ experience including hotel openings for the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Le Royal Meridien Bahrain, and the Diplomat Radisson SAS Bahrain.
Net Group in appoints MICE director
Net Group Dubai has appointed Paddy Paul to the position of director, MICE. She will link the two dep-artments of Incentive Productions and Net Conference and Conventions under Net Group in order to streng-then their MICE team. She has been with Net Group before, as manager, Incentive Productions Concepts, in 1997.
El-Hage in charge at Janna Spa
Selim El-Hage takes charge as general manager of the Janna Spa and Resort at Ma'in Hot Spring in Jordan.
A hotelier with 20 years’ experience in the hotel sector, he started his career in the US, and has held senior management positions in properties around the world including Turkey, Bahrain, Dubai, Aden Yemen.
Eleazar joins the Marriott Dubai team
Cleo Eleazar joins the Marriott Hotels Dubai cluster as marketing communications and public relations manager. She was formerly with the Fairmont Dubai, where she served as food & beverage marketing manager and communications manager. She has also worked with Hilton Al Ain and the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai.
New names at Evason Zighy Bay
Jo-Ella Moore has joined Six Senses Evason Hideaway as resident manager of the property at Zighy Bay in Oman, to open in mid 2007. She moves from Filitheyo Island Resort in the Maldives. Ashish Modak joins the property as director, food and beverage, moving from the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa.
Kairu at Accor DWTC
Timothy Kairu takes over the kitchens at the Ibis and Novotel, Dubai World Trade Centre, as executive chef. He moves from the InterContinental Dubai, and has served at various hotels including the Hilton Inter-national Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali Hotels Dubai, Holiday Inn, South Africa, and the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.
Geofrey Kent named WTTC chairman
The World Travel & Tourism Council has appointed Geoffrey Kent, chairman & CEO, Abercrombie & Kent as chairman of WTTC. On January 1, Kent takes over from Vincent Wolfington, who finishes a two-year tenure. Kent is well known for founding and building Abercrombie & Kent into a globally recognised brand.
Carr takes charge at Festival City
William Carr has been appointed as director of engineering for the InterContinental Hotels Group properties at Dubai Festival City. He was previously area chief engineer for the group’s 11 properties in Egypt, as well as the chief engineer for the InterContinental and Holiday Inn Citystars hotels based at the Citystars complex.
Massimo heads to Muscat
Massimo Rosso has been named director of sales and marketing at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Muscat. Prior to his new role, he was DoSM of the Grand Hotel Plaza in Rome. He has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including at the Loews Monte Carlo Hotel and Forte Hotel’s Beach Plaza Monte Carlo.
New role for El Sissy
The Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa has welcomed Ola El Sissy as its new marketing & comm-unications manager. She brings to her new job extensive experience in journalism, advertising and hotels, including a posting at the Sheraton. She has a masters in media and journalism from the American University of Cairo.
Das heads up India Tourism
Shri KL Das is the new regional director for India Tourism, West Asia & Africa. Das joined the Ministry of Tourism as director in 1991 overlooking the North Eastern region. He has served as deputy director general for the ministry, and has been posted as director, Government of India Tourist Office, Amsterdam.
New role for Dickinson
Virgin Atlantic has appointed Paul Dickinson to the newly created role of sales & marketing director. He will oversee Virgin Atlantic's global sales and marketing teams.
Dickinson was previously sales and marketing director for the consumer division of the RAC and has also held positions for Granada and Air Miles.
