Gulf Air and Kuwait Airways eye links

Gulf Air and Kuwait Airways are discussing possible cooperation in a number of areas and a joint committee of the carriers is to be formed in this regard. Gulf Air chief executive Ibrahim Abdulla Al Hamer and the Kuwait Airways chairman and managing director Ahmed Faisal Al Zaben recently held talks on the development of cooperation between the two airlines, a spokesman said. The coordination of air transport services in the region and development of commercial agreements for the benefit of both carriers and passengers was discussed at the meeting. Cooperation in the area of passenger services, aircraft maintenance, leasing, staff and pilot training was also reviewed, as well as the development of joint marketing programmes and policies within the Gulf and on a pan-Arab and international stage.

Emirates wins Asia cargo award

DUBAI: Emirates SkyCargo has been named 'Best Air Cargo Carrier Middle East' for the sixth year running at the Asian Freight Industry Awards (AFIA) in Hong Kong. The award was presented to Peter Sedgley, general manager cargo commercial operations, and Jacky Lau, cargo manager Hong Kong. The Afias are given annually, organised by the leading publication, Cargonews Asia. They are seen as prestigious accolades, based on a poll of the magazine's 13,000 readers, most of them industry decision makers in all countries of the Pacific Rim.
