Celebrating 60 years in retro style

CATHAY Pacific will relive the past for the benefit of the passengers, marking its 60th anniversary celebrations.

Crew on selected flights will wear uniforms from the 60s, 70s and 80s, taking back passengers to a different era. The airline is also reviving retro styles with three collectable classic travel bags from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s as part of the celebrations. In those days, these classic designs were given to passengers to commemorate their flight and were also used by Cathay Pacific cabin crew as their overnight travel bag. Now recreated by the airline in exact detail, the three bags are available at select outlets.
“The retro style is also very much back in fashion again and will create a buzz among younger style-conscious Hong Kong people too,” says K Mohandas, Cathay Pacific marketing manager, Bahrain and Offline Middle East.
Cathay has also released its latest collectable limited edition model aircraft charting the airline’s 60 years of serving and growing with Hong Kong. As part of the celebrations, the airline has also launched the “Best Chinese Food on Air” programme. Cuisine from a number of popular Hong Kong restaurants is served on the aircraft.
