New room category at Ajman Kempinski
AJMAN: The Ajman Kempinski Hotel & Resort launched a new room category, the Leisure Club, with fully refurbished rooms and attractive extra benefits and services for the discerning leisure traveller.

LHW opens regional office in Dubai
DUBAI:  The luxury hospitality organisation The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) has launched its regional office in Knowledge Village, Dubai. This is the group’s 25th regional office worldwide. The presence of a regional office in Dubai will enable The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. to offer an enhanced range of services to both member hotels and potential customers throughout the Middle East, according to company Chairman Jean-Jacques Gauer.

Sheraton Miramar gets prestigious certificate
HURGHADA: Sheraton Miramar Resort has achieved the Green Globe 21 Benchmarked Certificate for the second consecutive year under the new Green Globe 21 certification programme, which recognises the operation’s commitment to operating at the world’s highest environmental standard. Starwood in Condé Nast’s list
DOHA: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has earned the distinction of having 51 of its hotels and resorts included on Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Gold List and Gold List Reserve featured in the magazine’s January 2005 issue.  More than 20,000 Condé Nast Traveler subscribers voted for their favorite hotels, resorts and cruise lines around the world to make up the winners in the magazine’s 11th annual Gold List. 

InterCon, Air Miles in deal
DUBAI: InterContinental Hotels Group announced today it is partnering with Air Miles, the Middle East’s leading customer loyalty programme, to offer members the opportunity to collect Air Miles on all purchases at its hotels in the UAE and Qatar.
 
Amman Marriott bags top award
AMMAN: The Amman Marriott Hotel won Jordan’s Leading Hotel at the 11th Annual World Travel Awards, voted by travel agents worldwide. This voting campaign reached a total of 160,000 travel professionals worldwide of which 80,000 were travel agents.

Park Inn to make debut in KSA
RIYADH: Park Inn will make its debut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh and Al Khobar. With three properties already in operation and a recently-announced fourth, the Al Madinah Paradise Resort, being developed in Saudi Arabia under the Radisson SAS brand, Rezidor SAS is looking to use its existing knowledge and understanding of the country to successfully launch the highly efficient, no-fuss chain. Park Inn Olaya, Riyadh opens in mid-2007 while Park Inn Al Khobar is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2007.

New era for KHC
KUWAIT: Kuwait Hotels Company (KHC) is entering a new era with a comprehensive upgrade. KHC, which has set international standards with its flagship brand Safir International Resorts and Hotels, has a new general manager, Fawzi Al Musallam, at the helm, who is spearheading a string of exciting projects which is nearing completion, hiring new staff, and overseeing the move to a new purpose-built corporate headquarters in Kuwait. In Kuwait, the new projects include the luxury Marina Hotel at Marina World, and the exclusive Chairman’s Club, both managed by KHC’s Safir International Hotel Management.
