The Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai has announced the opening of their exclusive spa, Chi.

Focused on overall well-being, Chi is a luxurious, spacious and professionally equipped haven for guests to relax, rejuvenate and revitalise mind and body.

Chi embraces a holistic approach to physical and spiritual well-being. Guests can relax and rejuvenate in the healing waters of the plunge pools, sauna and steam rooms; tone the body using state-of-the-art fitness equipment or a workout in the movement studio; or revitalize and rejuvenate with a selection of unique therapies and treatments.

Chi, the spa at Shangri-La Hotel Dubai is inspired by traditional Asian healing philosophies and the treatments available have been developed upon the principle of restoring balance and harmony to the body and mind. The restorative properties of fragrant essential oils, aromatic herbs and spices are combined with their expert application in a variety of treatments by a team of international therapists.

Chi is the universal life force of energy, based on the principle that for every negative there is a positive balance energy - this positive balance energy is Chi. The free-flow of Chi within the body is essential to maintain good health.   When this life force is blocked, Chi will not circulate and illness may follow.   Movement, such as exercise, stretching, massage or hydrotherapy is a key element to ensure release of these natural blockages. Movement of the mind through relaxation and meditation is also important.

The philosophy of Chi has been applied in the development of Shangri-La’s own exclusive line of Chi Products and spa treatment techniques.  The five elements, water, earth, fire, metal and wood harmonise with the positive Yang and negative Yin energy within the body. For balance to occur Yin and Yang must be in harmony. The essence of the Chi Products and therapies is to create this harmony and restorative synergy of balance.

Rachel Awang, the Health Club & Spa manager at Shangri-La Hotel Dubai recommends guests allocate an extra 30 minutes prior to their treatment to take advantage of the facilities. Rachel says the ideal is to take a relaxing sauna or steam followed by a quick plunge in one of the plunge pools.
