Bahrain Hotels Company has signed a management contract to operate a new resort, Ocean Paradise, which is currently being built at Pwani Mchangamwe on the East coast of the island of Zanzibar.
Gerard Schraven has been appointed general manager of Ocean Paradise Resort, which is scheduled to open in April 2003. Schraven, a French national, was born The Zanzibar Islands are located just 35 km from the mainland of Tanzania. The Islands are steeped in history, shrouded in mystical and exotic images with a deep-rooted cultural heritage. Ocean Paradise Resort will feature 92 rooms and suites in the shape of round chalets, two restaurants, a main serving daily buffet breakfast and a theme buffet dinner in the evening, as well as an a la carte restaurant located at the poolside, with seafood specialties on the menu. Sports facilities will also be available, such as scuba diving, windsurfing, tennis and a well equipped gym. The hotel's qualified animation team will keep guests entertained through activities such as Beach Volleyball, Water Gymnastics, aerobics, and more. A large conference room with a seating capacity of 200 is being added to accommodate Zanzibar's growing popularity in the conference and incentive market.
