Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced the promotion of Wael Soueid (pictured here) to area general manager of Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara. Patrick Both joins as general manager of the property, while Mark Eletr joins as cluster general manager of Anantara’s Sir Bani Yas Island properties.
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Tareq Bagaeen as regional director of sales for the Middle East. Bagaeen will work closely with the hotels providing inbound and outbound sales support across the region. He will manage sales activities including roadshows, workshops and exhibitions for the region.
Bin Majid Hotels & Resorts has appointed Vanessa Chinopoulou as new cluster marketing manager of Bin Majid Hotels & Resorts. She will lead the daily marketing operations as well as oversee the group’s properties in the region. She has extensive experience in the hospitality field.
Minor Hotel Group (MHG) has appointed James A. Kaplan to the position of senior vice-president development for the group. Kaplan joins Bangkok-based MHG from Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI) where most recently he held the position of SVP development for Asia-Pacific and India, based in Singapore.
Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts has appointed Anthony Tyler as general manager at Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh. A British national raised in Switzerland, Tyler comes to Saudi Arabia with a wealth of experience gained from international postings within the hospitality industry over the past 20 years.
Ibrahim Barghout has been appointed as the new area vice-president of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. In his new role, Barghout will have operational responsibility for Ritz-Carlton hotels, providing oversight and leadership to positively impact hotel performance, portfolio development and owner relations.
IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed Donald A. Wingell, as its new director of food and beverage for South West Asia. Wingell will be based at IHG’s corporate Office in Gurgaon, New Delhi, reporting to the vice president of operations for South West Asia.
Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai has appointed Egyptian-national Hossam Nabil as its new director of sales and marketing. Nabil brings with him 18 years of UAE experience within the hospitality industry, having held senior sales and marketing positions with leading hotel brands such as the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), Time Hotels and Rotana Hotels.
Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach Residence has announced the appointment of Manoli Athanassiou as food and beverage manager. In this role, he will lead the overall operations of the hotel’s five dining outlets, including strategic planning, revenue management, budgeting and staff training.
Jumeirah Group has appointed Hakan Petek as the new general manager for Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa in Kuwait. Before being promoted to his current role, Petek a key player in the pre-opening period of the hotel as well as a member of the executive committee.

Turkish Airlines has appointed Rafet Alper Ozen as general manager of the global carrier’s operations in Dubai and Northern Emirates. Ozen will be responsible for developing the business strategy for Turkish Airlines specifically for Dubai and Northern Emirates, and further strengthening the growth recorded by the airline.
Donato Ubana (pictured here) and Felix Francis have joined the Carlton Tower Hotel team. Ubana leads the engineering department in his new post as chief engineer. Francis joins as food and beverage manager at the hotel, and comes with 17 years of hotel experience.
Grand Millennium Dubai Hotel has announced the promotion of Oussama Chalak as resident manager. He has been with the hotel for over six years, as director of rooms and director of revenue. He has been in the hotel industry for over 15 years, starting his career with Hilton Hotels.
