FOLLOWING the success of its sister property St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in the capital of the UAE, St Regis Abu Dhabi opened its doors in August, 2013. The hotel tower makes up part of the striking skyline that overlooks the Corniche and Arabian Gulf waters and as a result, the view from my Superior Sea View Room on the 43rd floor was breath-taking.
Large, floor-to-ceiling windows created a space that was sun-filled, bright and airy, while the glamour and sophistication associated with St Regis could be seen in the luxurious interior décor. Accents of red and gold complemented the soothing tones of creams and linen whites, while the sparking chandeliers and mirrored vanity desk claimed their rightful place as focal points of the room. In the bathroom, Statuario Royal marble made up the spacious bath tub, ‘his and hers’ sinks, and rain shower.
All 283 guest rooms include complimentary butler service which offers a packing and unpacking service, tea and coffee, garment pressing (two pieces) as well as anything else that may be required; and if you’re out of the hotel, the e-service allows you to email your butler with your requeSt Friendly and helpful, such personalised service would entice me back to the hotel in a heartbeat.
Exploring, I spent time in the lobby lounge admiring the sweeping twin staircases before choosing to visit Rhodes 44, just one of the eight restaurants, bars and lounges. As the name suggests, the outlet is created by well-known celebrity British chef, Gary Rhodes. Featuring European and British classics with a dash of Middle Eastern cuisine, the colourful dining room and open kitchens provide for an atmospheric dining experience. Interestingly, Rhodes 44 also serves as the breakfast restaurant which made getting up in the morning an absolute pleasure. The personalised theme continues as guests could choose from the à la carte menu before selecting from a buffet of delicious bread, fruit and cereal.
Relaxing at St Regis Abu Dhabi is easy. I chose to lounge by the pool and enjoy a treatment at the Rémede Spa. While it was a 60-minute facial, I took the afternoon to enjoy the sauna and Jacuzzi beforehand and then relished my post-treatment glow in the relaxation room with tea and dates – a perfect way to end my stay.
