THE region’s favourite getaway, Le Méridien Al Aqah in Fujairah, completed ten years of operation in December 2012. From sport to social responsibility, the environment-friendly facility remains dedicated to giving a hand to local charities, artists and artisans, further strengthening its image as a hotel with a heart.
Throughout 2012, Al Aqah officials made significant contributions were made to partner charities, including the Angel Appeal, the Fujairah Special Needs Foundation and the Dibba Orphanage. Several activities were also held in and around the hotel aimed at identifying even more closely with the local community.
“By continually upgrading and enhancing facilities and services to ensure the comfort and convenience of all guests, and driving social responsibility and environmental protection on the East Coast, we have managed to stay on top for the past 10 years. We want our anniversary celebrations to showcase these successes and, at the same time express our gratitude to all those who made this first decade an outstanding success,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Méridien Al Aqah beach resort.
Last year the hotel also completed a Dh2 million ($0.5 million) renovation plan of its popular Views restaurant. A state-of-the-art interactive kitchen was built for Views in keeping with the hotel’s philosophy of ‘freshly cooked’, allowing guests to now view the chefs in action when they dine at Views. The hotel entrance and the popular Le Méridien Al Aqah pool, one of the largest in the UAE, were also recently re-tiled and is certain to make quite a splash.
Further a Dh24 million ($6.5 million) room refurbishment plan is expected to begin this summer. This will include repainting of all rooms and upgrades to the in-room furniture and entertainment systems.
