Helmy... room upgrades in 2012

MIRAMAR Al Aqah Beach Resort, the upmarket Moroccan-style property in Fujairah is looking to implement more environmental activities to preserve and protect the Al Aqah area as amongst its top priorities for 2012.

Ashraf Helmy, general manager & area business development manager, said: “2011 was one of the best years for the property since we opened in 2007 and we plan to continue this excellent performance.

“Our environmental contribution will be one of our top priorities this year. We are planning to carry out more environmental awareness in Al Aqah area. In addition, we will continue to position the property as the most comfortable and luxury resort in the market by creating a more oriental feeling and touch through room upgrades and the new concept of Ibero Club that we will launch to give our guest the best experience ever. We are approaching different international markets to make Fujairah Al Aqah their first choice for business and recreation this year and beyond!”

A recipient of the Green Globe Certificate in 2010, an award given to properties recognised for their efforts in developing best environmental practices, Miramar Al Aqah develops and implements strategies to reduce environmental impact for sustainable tourism. Green Globe is an Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and is part owned by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

Helmy added that a new project owned and managed by the property will add extra value to Fujairah and Al Aqah is under construction. Gradual room upgrades will also take place on the second quarter of 2012 to ensure the hotel operation will not be hampered and there are plans to add more rooms to the current suites to cater to the needs of the local market.

This year is expected to bring more challenges as a result of the present economic situation but the property is optimistic that the UAE will always be considered one of the best secure countries in the region.

“Fujairah’s tourism industry is still young but the Fujairah Tourism Board is doing its best to position the industry in the market. The newly constructed 45km Dubai-Fujairah highway makes it more convenient and faster for guests to come to Fujairah so we expect more demand for the Fujairah area,” said Helmy.
