Gulf Air’s Golden Falcon is soaring to new heights – despite growing competition and global security challenges.
“We have begun 2004 on a high note,” said president and chief executive James Hogan.
He was speaking in New Delhi while receiving the prestigious Airline Turnaround of the Year Award presented by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA). He described how the airline had set out on the road to recovery in 2002 and how it had achieved remarkable results in a short time, and more importantly how it continues to flourish. “Gulf Air was among only a small group of airlines to have achieved positive growth in 2003, a year that presented more than its fair share of challenges, and having carried a record six million passengers last year, I am delighted to report that the momentum has carried forward into 2004,” he said. “As a result we are on track to meet our financial targets not only for this year and we are also very confident about returning to profitability in 2005.” More than 200 of Asia’s top aviation executives heard how Gulf Air’s recovery programme continues to gain momentum and how 2004 promises to be another successful year. Hogan said the bestowing of the CAPA award is further evidence that the Golden Falcon is flying high again.
