Virgin Atlantic Airways, Britain's second largest airline, has completed its largest-ever IT project with consultancy support from Mercator, a division of the Dubai-based Emirates Group.
The airline has successfully implemented three Oracle resource planning solutions - Oracle Financials, Oracle HRMS and Oracle Payroll, helped by Mercator.
Oracle Financials comprises general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, purchasing and inventory modules.
Oracle HRMS provides the features needed to manage Virgin's total HR requirements, whilst Oracle Payroll manages payments to staff. The deal will standardise and streamline Virgin Atlantic's procedures, increasing productivity and cost-efficiency.
Simon Fox, Virgin Atlantic's director IT said: "This is one of the biggest IT projects we've ever tackled. The work of our finance and HR departments has been transformed by Mercator's expertise.
"We now look forward to working with Mercator on phase two, to roll out the new systems to our offices across the world."
