Challenger joins Mercure Singapore

Rhys Challenger has been appointed general manager of Mercure Singapore Bugis. He first joined AccorHotels in 1996 and has since worked across New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. In 2012, he was resident manager at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, and was promoted to hotel manager in June 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

Chauhan promoted to chef de cuisine

Antique Bazaar at Four Points Sheraton Bur Dubai has promoted Chef Hoshiyar Chauhan from sous chef to chef de cuisine. Chauhan brings with him more than 16 years of culinary experience in Indian cuisine. His first job was in Jaipur in 2000 and he travelled to Dubai in 2007.

 

 

 


 

Kademoglu joins Canyon Ranch

Onur Kademoglu has been appointed director of sales and marketing of Canyon Ranch’s first international destination in Turkey – Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort at Kaplankaya. Kademoglu, who brings more than a decade of sales and marketing experience, will spearhead sales, marketing and public relations initiatives.

 

 

 


 

Mehta is director of revenue

Before joining Novotel & Adagio Al Bustan as director of revenue, Anil Mehta was the revenue manager at the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai. An Indian national, h started out with Ananda in the Himalayas, followed by Taj Chandigarh, The Ritz-Carlton in Bahrain and Dubai, and Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort Dubai.

 

 

 


 

Onyx appoints VP of sales

Thailand-based Onyx Hospitality Group has appointed Sophia Altamirano as its vice-president of sales, to oversee the group’s sales efforts. She will work closely with general managers across the portfolio. Altamirano brings with her 19 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including 14 years with AccorHotels Group.

 

 

 


 

Haidar joins Manzil Downtown

Riad Abi Haidar is the hotel manager of Manzil Downtown Dubai, responsible for the food & beverage operation, administration and profitability of four diverse culinary outlets. Haidar brings more than a decade of experience in the hospitality business to his new role, much of which has been spent in the UAE.

 

 

 

 

 

Hallenbeck is Motiongate Dubai GM

Motiongate Dubai, part of Dubai Parks and Resorts, has appointed John Hallenbeck as general manager, from his previous role as vice-president of revenue operations. Hallenbeck brings more than 25 years’ experience in theme-park operations to his role, having worked with Universal Studios theme parks worldwide.

 

 

 


 

Brooks is cluster HR director

Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach and Ramada Sharjah have appointed Sarah Brooks as the new cluster director of  human resources. Prior to taking on her new role, Brooks worked as a human resources manager at Southern Sun Abu Dhabi, where she managed the recruitment of the pre-opening team.

 

 

 


 

Colson heads One&Only Seef, Bahrain

One&Only Resorts has appointed Jerome Colson as general manager, One&Only Seef, Bahrain, for the opening in 2017 and for on-going operations. Colson joined One&Only in 2012 as the hotel manager of One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius. He has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.


 

 

 

 

De Juniac takes the reins at IATA

Alexandre de Juniac has officially taken on the role of director general and CEO of International Air Transport Association (IATA), succeeding Tony Tyler. De Juniac brings diverse experience to the association, including leadership roles in the airline and aerospace sectors as well as in government.


 

 

 

 

Chapman hired as Dukes F&B director

Carl Chapman has been appointed as food & beverage director of Dukes Dubai hotel and residences on Palm Jumeirah. A UK national, Chapman has worked for some of London’s most respected hospitality brands such as The Savoy, Claridge’s and Simpsons in the Strand, and Fairmont Château Lake Louise in Canada.

 

 

 


 

Key hires at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi

Khaled Al Jamal (pictured here) and Jérémie Laurent have been appointed as the general manager and executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverage, respectively, at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. Most recently Al Jamal was GM at Al Jaddaf Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments in Dubai.


 

 

 

 

Mövenpick Bahrain appoints Joyce

Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain has appointed a new executive chef, Iain Joyce, who brings 20 years of culinary experience, with nine years in Kempinski properties. Joyce began his career in his hometown of Bournemouth, England before moving onto bigger roles in New Zealand, Bermuda and the Middle East.

 

 

 


 

Sabre appoints manager for Qatar

Sabre Corporation has appointed Ghassan Abu Khalaf as its new country manager for Qatar. With more than 20 years’ experience working for global technology companies in the Middle East, his primary role will be leading the Sabre team in Qatar to maintain and grow its customer base in the country.

 

 

 


 

Reynolds joins Westin Doha Hotel

Michelle Reynolds has joined The Westin Doha Hotel and Spa as spa and leisure director. Reynolds has a background in driving sales and revenue for spas, and has been instrumental in changing spa concepts. She has worked in five-star resorts in Dubai, London and the Maldives.

 

 

 


 

Ashor moves to Arjaan by Rotana

Arjaan by Rotana Dubai has appointed Ayman Ashor as its new general manager. Ashor, who has been with Rotana since 2014, was the general manager of Centro Capital Centre Abu Dhabi before this new role. He has 21 years of hospitality experience, and has worked in Egypt, the Netherlands and Germany.

 

 

 

 

 

Carne heads sales at Eden Yachting

Eden Yachting has appointed Paul Carne as its sales and operations director to manage business development and after sales service for the growing Dubai-based company. Carne brings with him a wealth of sailing and client-servicing experience, and will further develop yacht sales.

 

 

 

 


 

Pey joins Lufthansa as Saudi GM
 
Mark Lukas Pey has been named the new country manager for Lufthansa German Airlines in Saudi Arabia. With more than 20 years’ expertise in the airline industry, Pey successfully held the post of head of Gulf and Pakistan for Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss) prior to his new role with Lufthansa.

 

 

 

 

 

Prestigiovanni is culinary director

Wyndham Legend Halong has hired Mario Prestigiovanni as its new culinary director. Prestigiovanni was born and raised in Italy, after graduating from the Technical institute of Cefalu’ (Palermo) specialised in food and beverage. He started his career as a chef de partie at Sheraton Hotel Firenze in 1992.

 

 

 

 

 

New GM for Dusit Hotel & Suites Doha

Dusit International has appointed Ahmet Antepli as the general manager of the upcoming Dusit Hotel & Suites Doha. Antepli has over 18 years of experience across the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Most recently, he was general manager at Doubletree by Hilton Dhahran Hotel, Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia.
