Spa Village tingles your senses

Sensory exploration

IT WAS a notion held centuries ago that there was a magician who could bring you wellness with the mere whirl of his sceptre. Fast forward into the 21st century, the magician exists in the form of spa therapists and so does the key to one’s rejuvenation.

Champion in the spa field, the Spa Village at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, has taken this ancient, rich art form to a level where it is a fusion of science, nature, luxury and efficacy.

Honouring healing traditions, Spa Village has come up with the pioneering Sensory Exploration treatment. As suggested from the name, the process is designed to highlight the five senses and is the first of its kind in Asia.

It’s a 60-minute journey in which an individual undergoes the exploration of sound, sight, smell, taste and touch – the effect leaving one fresh and balanced for the rest of the day.

The ‘purely magical’ Spa Village, spanning 12,000 sq ft, is located on level four of the luxurious all-suite wing of the Ritz-Carlton KL, the epitome of luxury and elegance within the thriving and busy Malaysian capital. All 365 guest rooms and suites are provided with 24-hour butler service, the latest TV facilities and high speed internet making The Ritz-Carlton KL a great place to spoil yourself.

Taking luxury a step further, the hotel also has four exclusive three-storey penthouses, which feature their own private rooftop swimming pools.

The four distinctive dining outlets offer unmatched variety and quality. Li Yen Chinese restaurant is one of a few places that serves Sunday breakfast. For fresh, organic produce and continental classics, the Carlton Gourmet bistro is the place. Cesar’s, with its open theatre kitchen serves fine daily breakfasts and is the perfect venue for cocktail parties and private dinners. And lastly, the ambience at The Lobby Lounge makes it the perfect place to enjoy more than 40 different types of tea and a sumptuous Sunday Roast.

For business matters, the Ritz-Carlton KL has the huge 30,000-sq-ft Carlton Conference Centre, which houses 25 meeting and conference rooms and is able to host up to 400 guests. Latest video-conferencing capabilities and dedicated event management add personal and reassuring touches.

The Ritz Carlton KL also links directly to the city’s most exclusive retail destinations, the Starhill Gallery and Feast Village, offering a wonderfully tempting range of shopping and dining opportunities.

And after a hectic day exploring all these venues, there is, of course, a place for retreat – again the Spa Village. Dedicated to healing and designed for rejuvenation, the spa contains eight spacious treatment suites which feature outdoor showers and sunken baths surrounded by a tranquil paradise of lush greenery. Massage treatments are available in the spa’s outdoor cabanas with curtains for privacy and a 22-m lap pool, hot spa and cool dipping pool are set within the landscaped gardens.

All this excitement and luxury were summed up in the words of a therapist at the Spa Village who said: “First we make the world revolve around you. Then we gently slow it down.”
