Formula 1 has confirmed the return of the Turkish Grand Prix to the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, with the race scheduled for October 3, 2027 at TOSFED İstanbul Park.
Practice and
qualifying will take place on October 1-2, marking Türkiye’s return to the
championship after a six-year absence.
The race will be held at İstanbul Park for the 10th time.
The 5.3-kilometre circuit is known for its high speeds,
elevation changes and challenging corners, including the famous multi-apex Turn
8.
The track’s combination of fast sections and technical
complexity is expected to provide overtaking opportunities and competitive
racing.
Türkiye’s return to Formula 1 was initially announced in
April at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Under the agreement, Formula 1 races will be staged at
İstanbul Park from 2027 through 2031, organised by the Turkish Automobile
Sports Federation (TOSFED), with support from the Ministry of Culture and
Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The event is expected to boost İstanbul’s sports tourism,
economy and international visibility, while strengthening Türkiye’s global
tourism profile.
International promotion for the 2027 race has already begun.
The Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency’s
“Catch It If You Can” campaign has surpassed 571 million views.
Further international media projects, digital campaigns and
collaborations with global content creators are planned to promote İstanbul
ahead of the race.
The return follows years of efforts by TOSFED and government
institutions to bring Formula 1 back to Türkiye.
The 2027 event will reunite the championship with one of its most distinctive venues and bring leading drivers and thousands of international fans back to İstanbul. -TTN
