Two of the six hotels that opened on the Yas Island were under the Rezidor Hotel banner, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Abu Dhabi Yas Island and Park Inn Abu Dhabi, Yas Island. The opening of the Park Inn also marks the launch of the company’s fresh and innovative mid-market brand in the UAE.
Torbjorn Bodin, general manager for the Radisson Blu Hotel and spokesperson for both properties, commented: “The F1 weekend was exceptionally successful for us with both hotels fully booked over the weekend. We had a large contingency of guests from the UAE, including expats from Dubai as well as international guests and also hosted two teams.”
Featuring a combined total of 601 guest rooms, the hotels are positioned adjacent to one another on Yas Island.
Guests at both hotels can gaze out over the soon-to-open links golf course, the first in the region, and the Yas Marina circuit.
Looking ahead Bodin is confident that the buzz at the hotel will continue well into the year.
“The Yas Island was not built for the race week only - the investment is far too big for that. Following the race, we had the Pakistan and New Zealand cricket teams that stayed with us. However our main target guests from now on will be the meetings Industry and business individuals. With our proximity to both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, we are simply ideal for most business guests. I believe that we will also see a fair share of leisure business coming from Dubai, especially over long weekends like Eid,” he said.
“We are very optimistic for the rest of the year as well as into 2010.

“With so much focus on Abu Dhabi in recent times and the promising targets that Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority has set for hotel guests in the city, we are sure to be on a par in terms of growth with the city hotels in Abu Dhabi city.”
A wide range of dining options are available between the two properties.
At the Radisson Blu, Asymmetri, the all-day-dining restaurant, offers international cuisine while Filini is the contemporary Italian bar and restaurant. Zeeba is the hotel’s Persian restaurant and the Fast Track Lobby Bar and the Shams Pool Bar are ideal for taking time out and sipping a cocktail.
