Shanghai’s Himalayas Centre hosts two new hotel concepts

The Zendai group of real estate developers based in China plans to open two new hotels in its $330 million development the Himalayas Centre.
The two hotels, Zendai Hotel Yin, a luxury boutique style hotel, and Zendai Art Hotel, a five star business hotel, will be situated in this centre, which is due to open in Pudong in spring 2010 in time for the Shanghai World Expo.
Designed by one of the world’s leading architects, Arata Isozaki  renowned for his work on the Barcelona Olympics Stadium and the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art, the Himalayas Centre is being hailed by its developers as an ‘archisculptural icon for 21st century China’.   
The Himalayas Centre is located opposite Shanghai’s New International Expo Centre and near to the city’s main financial district in Pudong. Metro line 7 can be accessed directly from the basement of the new centre and the high speed Maglev train, for seven minute transfers to and from Pudong airport, which is 10 minutes away.
The Himalayas Centre will incorporate a theatre with a multi-functional auditorium seating 1,600 people, a shopping mall and a creative complex come museum zone, as well as the two luxury hotels.
The 78 room Zendai Hotel Yin will occupy the top four floors of the dedicated hotel tower. The guest rooms range in size from the 376 sq m presidential suite to 60 sq m luxury suites, which will be accessed via elevators exclusively for use by the boutique hotel guests.
The spa will be the spiritual core of the hotel, offering a range of Chinese, Asian and Western health and beauty treatments and therapies. A highlight of the hotel will be a contemporary take on the traditional Chinese tea house where various ceremonies will take place.
The Zendai Art Hotel occupying the first 14 floors of the hotel tower will offer over 300 rooms and suites. All rooms feature flat screen TV’s with Internet access. The hotel also features a gym with a spinning room, indoor pool, yoga and rejuvenation pods.
Dining options will include a lobby lounge, all day dining room and a steak house, wine bar, jazz lounge, sushi and teppanyaki bars.
The hotel also features a 864 sq m cone shaped ballroom with a nine metre ceiling, a suite of six private rooms and a 300 sq m roof garden with adjoining events space.
