Visitors to Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany expect high quality and excellent service – and this is exactly what they get according to the State Tourist Board of Baden-Württemberg.
It states that an increasing number of guests from Arab countries find the landscape of the Black Forest fascinating, and are attracted to the tranquillity of Lake Constance, the mundane elegance of Baden-Baden, the romance of Heidelberg and the flavours of the gourmet region in Germany’s southwest. Baden-Württemberg is the third largest German Federal State. It stretches from Lake of Constance also referred to as the Swabian Sea to the River Rhine in the west and the River Main in the north.
But what most visitors come to experience in Baden-Württemberg are its spas - its almost 60 thermal baths and spas offer health care vacations in many disguises. More than two thousand years ago, the Romans with their thermal springs laid the foundation for Baden-Württemberg as a spa area to be reckoned with. The combination of relaxing baths in hot spring water and physical care thus has a long standing tradition, with the emphasis being on bringing body, mind and soul into one harmonious being.
The seal of quality ‘wellness stars’ in Baden-Württemberg is a guarantee for the high standard of quality in spa hotels, thermal baths and health institutes. More than 50 hotels, 16 thermal baths and five medical wellness institutes have joined the ‘wellness stars’ initiative and submit themselves to strict testing. Services and performance are regularly inspected by spa trade experts.
Guests benefit from knowing that their expectations will be met at the respective wellness resorts. At the same time, they can be sure that independent of whether there are three or five stars awarded, all ‘wellness stars’ stand for checked quality. The quality audits are conducted annually in secret. All aspects are put to the test: professional competence, location and equipment of the wellness section, quality of the fitness equipment and the fitness coaches, the services offered in the massage section and sauna, plus the variety and frequency of courses and consulting dates.
The southwest of Germany is also a magnet for gourmets: renowned restaurant guides including Guide Michelin and Gault have identified in their surveys that one third of the top German restaurants lie in Baden-Württemberg. Local cooking in the regions of Baden and Swabia are winners with most guests: the ravioli-like Maultaschen or Spنtzle, the home made pasta, perch from Lake Constance or Black Forest gateau are all famous and appreciated the world over.
