The InterContinental Regency Bahrain will undergo major refurbishments of all rooms and public areas in the first quarter of 2009.

Speaking at the Bahrain International Travel Expo 2008, general manager James P McDonald said, “The hotel will offer a whole new level of service, as well as a new appearance, after an overall investment of over $35 million.”
“The three-year project will transform one of Bahrain’s oldest hotels, giving it a completely new, light and modern feel.”
Situated above the adjacent multi-storeyed car park, the hotel will also see the opening of their new health club and treatment center.
The health club will house a new swimming pool along with squash court, steam rooms, sauna as well as treatment rooms. “We believe that the opening of the new health club will raise the profile of the property and enhance our weekend saleability,” said McDonald.
In addition to the existing restaurants, the hotel will also see plans to open four new themed restaurants as well as additional conference facilities. Classic warm colour schemes, with an asian influence will provide a relaxed and upmarket atmosphere in keeping with the contemporary style in which rooms have been redecorated.
The hotel has witnessed over 80 per cent in occupancy till date and hope to see a further increase by the end of the year. The Regency InterContinental Bahrain is among several InterContinental properties in the Middle East ensuring that health clubs and fitness centres, as well as business centres, are open 24 hours a day, while laundry and dry cleaning services are also available round the clock. Other initiatives have improved the speed and efficiency of service from check-in to checkout, while the hotel concierge can now provide InterContinental Insiders' Guides to the City, Insiders' Shopping Programmes and “in the know” experiences.
