THE Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has begun the initial phase of a Dh16 million expansion plan that includes constructing a new exhibition hall at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).

To be completed by the end of 2006, this phase will add 15,000 sqm of exhibition space to the venue, an increase of 30 per cent.
“Dubai’s conference and exhibition sector is growing massively and demand for space is far outstripping supply. In 2005, shows at the DICEC grew from 10 per cent to 58 per cent in terms of exhibition space, and we want to ensure that facilities are available to support these growth rates,” said DWTC director general Helal Saeed Al Marri. “The second stage will enable us to meet the exciting demands of the future, with the construction of Dubai Exhibition City part of the Jebel Ali Airport City, which will offer a staggering 120,000 sqm of exhibition space 2009.”
