Zogbi takes charge at Sharm

Inter-Con Robert Zogbi, who was previously the general manager of The Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain, takes over as the general manager of Sharm El Sheikh Inter-Continental and regional director of operations - Six Continents Hotels and Resorts in Egypt, effective September 1.

The 24-year veteran of the global hotel industry has an excellent platform to build on and a great vision for the future.

A seasoned hotelier, Zogbi's primary objective will be to guide the Sinai properties growth in the future.

His new assignment is a fantastic opportunity to lead a collection of superb resorts offering a superior and diverse product, a spokesman said.

"Zogbi is both a team-builder and a consensus-builder, and can form coalitions among very diverse constituencies," the spokesman said.

"He is uniquely qualified for this position for two reasons, he has a depth of experience at the senior management level in the hotel business, and his management style is one of consensus building."

In his two-year tenure in Bahrain, Zogbi has succeeded in building people and performance combined with his interest for quality products, strong management skills and customer service values.

During his term he managed the hotel's renovation, which gave him the opportunity to share his ability to implement revenue management techniques simply and inexpensively in order to increase profitability.

His drive to succeed helped regain The Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain's reputation as a stylish destination.

The hotel's various marketing programmes created a new level of excitement for the property giving it a reputation as "the hotel that delivers personal attention to details".

Prior to joining The Regency Inter-Continental Bahrain, Zogbi worked for Hurghada Inter-Continental Resort and Casino, on Egypt's Red Sea, as general manager for nearly two years.

His numerous positions with the company included resident manager of Inter-Continental Abu Dhabi from 1993 to 1997, and food and beverage director of Inter-Continental Borubodur, Jakarta 1990 to 1993.

Before joining Inter-Continental, Zogbi worked in Copley Plaza in Boston as F&B executive manager and in the Park Hyatt Hotel in Washington DC and Boston as executive assistant manager in charge of F&B as well as in other properties in the US and the Caribbean.

An American citizen of Lebanese origin, Zogbi is fluent in English, French, Italian, and Arabic and is currently studying Spanish.
