'Lost City' surfaces
'The Lost City' is expected to be a major attraction during Dubai Shopping Festival, which will run from January 15 to February 15.

This adrenaline-packed zone will have the contestants constantly on their toes, in search of the lost treasures of ancient cities. This zone will be set up in the Muraqabbat area, next to the Safir Deira Hotel.  Spread over a large area, this adventure can be enjoyed by children as well as adults. There is a train that will run across the entire zone and special boats for children to row on the lake within the Lost City.

Xtreme Riders set for shows
International FMX (Freestyle Motocross) and BMX (Bicycle Motocross) champions are to stage a series of stunt shows during Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2004.
Xtreme Riders, sponsored by Cellucom and Nokia, is one of the main attractions of the upcoming shopping festival and features world-class FMX and BMX riders, a four-member rock band to entertain audiences, and Germany's best trial athletes on their motorcycles.
The two-hour Xtreme Riders show will be held twice daily - six days a week (Tuesday to Sunday) from January 16 to February 15.
The show is open to all with tickets priced at Dh30, Dh60 and Dh100 (VIP).

120 rides and games at funfair
The funfair section of the Global Village during Dubai Shopping Festival 2004 is to be bigger and more exciting than ever seen before in the region, said organisers.
The size and the number of attraction make it among the largest in the world.
'The funfair, with 120 rides and games, is planned for the entire family,' said Global Village director Ibrahim Abdul Rahim.
'Out of the120, a large number are new, not only in Dubai, but in the entire Middle Eastern region. Some of these have been created specially for DSF and can be seen nowhere else in the world.'
The funfair will be spread out over an area of 30,000 square metres.
Most of the rides and attractions will be seen in the Middle East for the first time, and some have been created solely for DSF.

Heritage shows lined up for DSF
Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is introducing new programmes during the shopping festival to showcase the best of Dubai’s heritage and culture.
‘The whole idea is to educate the residents and tourists about our glorious past,’ said DTCM director-general Khalid A bin Sulayem.
The multi-venue activities have been designed to offer the visitors insights into Dubai’s history, cultural richness, diversity and social life of the yore and the breathtaking modernity of the emirate.

Gold group to launch commemorative coin
The Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai, has announced details of an innovative new gold product, specially created for Dubai gold and jewellery shoppers.
The World Family commemorative gold coin will be launched during the ninth Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). The coin has been endorsed by the Dubai Shopping Festival Committee and hailed as an innovative and complimentary product. Savers win millions in DSF promotion
Mashreqbank has announced the 111 winners of the first 11 days of its Dh8.8 million ($2.4 million) pre-Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) MashreqMillionaire promotion.
The campaign runs until to January 15, the day the shopping festival begins.
Varinder Singh won Dh1 million on the promotion’s opening day December 15. He now plans to invest this amount into his textile business and open a new shop in Dubai.
