An InterContinental resort opens later this year on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, creating a new location for getaway breaks, conferences and incentives.

The 453-room and suite InterContinental Abu Soma Resort Red Sea came under the spotlight at the recenetly concluded Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF), which took place at Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 16-18.

“We’re going to enjoy introducing the travel trade to the beautiful new InterContinental resort at Abu Soma and the two new CityStars hotels,” said Chris Moloney, chief operating officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa.

“These are three very impressive properties which highlight our commitment to continue setting the standard for hotel development in Egypt, and the region as a whole.”
Located between Hurghada  and Safaga on Egypt’s Red Sea Coast, the InterContinental Abu Soma Resort Red Sea is highlighted by golden sandy beaches, turquoise waters, palm trees and stunning desert island scenery. Guest rooms include royal, deluxe, executive and junior suites, all with sea views. Guests have a choice of eight international restaurants and bars, a shopping arcade and beauty salon.

Leisure facilities include a superb private beach, tennis and squash courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a health club with sauna and steamroom, whirlpool and massage.

The resort also has its own stables, marina and diving centre.
Conference and event organisers have the choice of meeting rooms with high tech facilities, as well as a ballroom for up to 350 persons, and the hotel also has a business centre.
