Maggio to cook up a storm

Newly appointed Italian chef, Marco Maggio, is ready with a totally new menu for Amalfi diners.

Marco will revamp the menu of the existing Amalfi and will be in charge of the Nuovo Amalfi, when the Italian restaurant will move to the new premises in the upcoming extension of the hotel, soon to be re-branded Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi.

According to general manager, Francesco Borrello, bringing in new talent at this stage will ensure cuisine is revitalised and reaches the standards expected.

"We already have a range of restaurants appealing to every taste, from the refined dining of Al Fanar, the UAE capital's only revolving restaurant- and the traditional Irish pub, PJ O'Reilley's to the Amalfi - where new Italian chef Marco adds a novelty touch," he said.

Graduated from Scuola Alberghiera in Bari, Italy and trained by Antonio Lafuente, one of the best chefs from south of Italy, Marco brings with him a culinary expertise that has been refined at famous restaurants in Italy, Thailand, Cyprus, Algiers and Bahrain.

• Newly appointed Restaurant Manager, Sergio Albergo joins forces with newly appointed Chef for a total revamp of Amalfi, the fine-dining Italian restaurant at the Abu Dhabi Grand.

Sergio has joined the team of the Abu Dhabi Grand, coming from Hong Kong where he was in charge of 14 food & beverage outlets at the Great Pacific Palace.

Graduated from Scuola Alberghiera in Bari, Italy, his experience has been fine-tuned at worldwide restaurants, like the hotel Romazzino, in Sardinia, The Four seasons Hotel in Bermuda.
