The five-star Le Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort in Cyprus has announced plans to become a self-contained luxury resort exclusively available for residents.
It said it will be the first hotel on the island with a 'Residents Only' policy from April next year and will provide guests with total exclusivity in terms of the hotel and its many facilities. Selected international tour operators as well as conference and incentive organisers have been advised about the new structure. By introducing the 'Residents Only' concept, Le Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort aims to set new standards for quality hotels on the island, said Demetris A. Tsangaras, director of business development. "There are excellent examples of hotels in other parts of the world that have achieved this combination of luxury, service and facilities plus entertainment," he said. "Cyprus is associated with quality and the owning company together with the team members of this unique resort have worked carefully at expanding and embellishing their product so that it can meet with the expectations of the most discerning traveller." The hotel has a total of 330 rooms, garden villas and suites. The temperature- controlled bedrooms in the main building which are the largest on the island have been refurbished recently. A total of 39 rooms have been designed as Deluxe Sea and Pool View rooms, ideal for families with children and the hotel also has rooms that are suitable for the handicapped. The Royal Spa Wing which was completed in 2001 is for adults only and continues to offer a selection of outstanding rooms and suites. The resort offers six theme restaurants with the newest Kojima providing Japanese and sushi experience. A new entertainment piazza with a stage for professional acts will also add to the variety. There are also six bars with the newest addition 'Captain Cook' a traditional English pub. The indoor health and fitness club overlooks the sea and has all the latest equipment plus a heated indoor pool, saunas, whirlpool and steam bath. The seawater lagoon and pier are available for the hotel's Water Sports Centre for scuba diving with PADI instructors, water skiing, windsurfing, paragliding, snorkelling, canoeing, jet skiing and sailing with the hotel's own yacht. The hotel's Penguin Village is dedicated to the care of 3 to 12 year olds. This purpose built club offers a mini football pitch, bouncing castle, swimming pool, mini amphitheatre, climbing fences, table tennis, basketball, badminton and volleyball courts manned by well-trained staff. A shopping arcade offers a choice of boutiques with the latest in fashion designer clothes and shoes. The hotel's Le Spa is an indoor and outdoor thalassotherapy spa, the only one of its kind in the eastern Mediterranean. It features four outdoor seawater pools, each with a different salinity content and temperatures. There is a domed Hammam, that can accommodate up to 25 people, two saunas, as well as a heated indoor seawater pool with a negative flow section, two heated thalasso indoor pools plus an Algae therapy centre with 32 treatment rooms with 'Philippe Starck' design and four relaxation areas.
