Azmy is resident manager
Ahmed Azmy has been promoted to resident manager for InterContinental Cairo Citystars from executive assistant manager in charge of the rooms division. Azmy is experienced both in city hotels and resorts and in his new role, he will be in charge of day-to-day operations of the Egyptian property.
Nashaat promoted to GM
Ibrahim Nashaat has been promoted to general manager at the 311-room Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars in Egypt. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, Nashaat is responsible for strategic decision-making positioning the property within the local and regional arena.
Four Seasons Hotel Amman announces that regional vice-president Vincent Hoogewijs has been appointed as general manager of the Jordanian hotel. Hoogewijs has held executive-level positions all over the world: from Bangkok to Tokyo, Mumbai to Mexico, Canberra to Rabat.
Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi has appointed Urs Solenthaler as the new deputy general manager. Solenthaler spent the last three years working for the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts Group, most recently in Manila, Philippines as resident manager, and as executive assistant manager food and beverage in Jakarta, Indonesia.
New chef for Anantara Dubai The Palm
Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa has welcomed its new speciality chef, Michael Muir, to head up the kitchen at the outback-inspired restaurant, Bushman’s Restaurant & Bar. Muir began his career training with one of Australia’s most influential chefs, Neil Perry, at the iconic Rock Pool restaurant in Sydney.
Etihad Airways announced the appointment of John Friel as its new general manager in South Africa. Friel has 16 years in the travel sector and a strong understanding of the South African market. Born in Scotland, he has been living in the country with his family since 2002.
Park Inn has new hotel manager
Park Inn by Radisson Hotel Apartments, Rezidor Hotel Group’s newest location in Dubai’s Al Barsha neighbourhood, will be managed by Michael Kuhn. Kuhn assumes the role of hotel manager for the 90- room residential property, only the second Park Inn in the UAE. Michael speaks German, English, Dutch, Arabic and French.
Robert Allum is chef de cuisine at Park Grill, having transferred from the Grand Hyatt Dubai’s Manhattan Grill. Allum’s passion for good food led him to pursue his cooking skills during his apprenticeship in his native country, England, which led to more than 15 years of experience in the industry.
New GM for Rixos Palm
Rixos Hotels and Resorts International has appointed Alexander Schneider as general manager for its Rixos Palm Jumeirah Hotel and Resort in Dubai. Schneider was manager of Emirates Palace between 2012 and 2014, and has worked as general manager of Park Plaza Hotel in Bengaluru in India.
Amadeus Egypt appoints Nour
Amadeus has appointed Nevine Nour as director of sales for Amadeus Egypt. In her new role, Nour will manage and direct Amadeus sales in Egypt. Nour has more than 15 years of experience in the travel industry after working as an account manager with British Airways Egypt from 1995 to 2006.
Centro appoints director of rooms
Centro Capital Centre by Rotana has appointed Osama Semaan director of rooms. The Syrian national joins the team with 18 years of experience in various hotels within the Rotana chain. Semaan started his career in 1997 by joining the pre-opening team at Al Bustan Rotana in Dubai.
JA Manafaru gets new GM
JA Resorts & Hotels has appointed Walter Hall as general manager of its Maldivian island resort JA Manafaru. Cecil Huey to advise Reem Mall
Cecil Huey, one of the retail industry’s most respected developers, has been appointed senior development advisor for Reem Mall, Abu Dhabi’s new retail, leisure, dining and entertainment destination. Huey will be responsible for key aspects of development and delivery of the $1 billion project.
