THE Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced the launch of Qatar Events Diary ‘OnQatar’, the new online platform. The bilingual and user-friendly website and along with its interactive smart phone application will provide users with up-to-date information of all types of events happening in the country.
Rashed Al Qurese, director of marketing and promotions at QTA, comments: “The launch of the ‘OnQatar’ is part of a series of measures QTA adopted to enhance Qatar’s position as a preferred tourism destination in the region. Citizens, residents, and tourists will be kept up-to-date with the full program of activities and events in Qatar.
“With Qatar now experiencing a new stage of development that will pave the way for long years of outstanding achievements, it was necessary to provide a real and effective platform enabling the public to know what events are happening now and what is being planned for the future. This will certainly make it easier for people to participate in activities and also facilitate the promotion of these activities locally, regionally, and internationally.”
‘OnQatar’ allows event organisers to add events and activities, making it the ultimate up to date and comprehensive source of information of events happening in Qatar. The new website contributes to the development of the state’s tourism agenda and will keep the public constantly informed. Events are listed under nine categories: art and culture, business, education, entertainment, fashion, food, healthcare, charity and religion, and sports.
QTA also launched the ‘OnQatar’ mobile application that will show all updates to the main website and allow easy access to the events calendar through smartphones. The bilingual Arabic-English application will be available to download on all IOS- and Android-enabled mobile devices. The new application will provide information about all activities and events lined up for the month or the year, including how people can take part in the event, make bookings and buy tickets. It will also provide detailed maps to help locate the events.
The updated information on the ‘OnQatar’ website will also be available on a number of social media channels that people can use to obtain detailed and most recent information about events and activities in the state.
The application is also available for free download.
