New developments at Travelport

TRAVELPORT and Emirates have launched Emirates’ Inspire Me travel application on the airline’s website to assist travellers in choosing a holiday destination.

The application presents an easy-to-navigate graphical map of the world and an expansive range of search capabilities.

Selections are based on personal preferences and Emirates’ global route network. The application offers competitive real-time availability and pricing as well as an advanced interface and visual appeal.

“Today’s travellers want to engage with travel solutions as they would any other technology or application. They expect to navigate options easily, comparison shop and customise their preferences. They also have a hunger for the latest mobile technology, which is why Travelport facilitated leisure travel planning integrates with smartphone and tablet devices,” said Derek Sharp, president and managing director, Global Distribution Sales & Services and Airline IT Solutions for Travelport.

The application presents a map of the world as a backdrop, and choices include a broad selection of destinations, desired climate and landscapes as well as activities like shopping, sight-seeing, safaris, nature, history and culture and backpacking.

The company has also signed up with Oman Air for easy seat assignment booking functionality to benefit travel agents. Those booking Oman Air via Travelport’s Galileo and Worldspan distribution systems will now be able to benefit from new functionality, which allows them to manage the seat selection process in a ‘live’ and interactive environment.

The Interactive Seat Assignment functionality will provide agents with greater ease in booking Oman Air content and help improve customer service.
