Andrew Ramsay has arrived in Dubai to take up his position as general manager at The Montgomerie, Dubai golf course, which was created as part of the exclusive Emirates Hills development.

This blend of luxury golf course and exclusive real estate is the first of its kind in the Middle East.

The Montgomerie, Dubai golf course was designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with master course architect, Desmond Muirhead.

The course will be managed by the world's leading golf management brand, Troon Golf, and will offer an 18-hole championship course with superb playing surfaces and superior levels of services.

Ramsay, Australian by birth, brings with him a wealth of experience in golf and hospitality management.

After graduation from L'Institute International de Glion, Switzerland, with a diploma in hotel management and tourism, Ramsay spent 15 years in management positions in the hotel industry, including Hilton International in Australia, Sheraton in Fiji and Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove.

From 1991 until 1999, Ramsay acted as general manager of Australia's number one resort golf course, Hope island Golf Club, where the Johnnie Walker Classic was staged in 1997.

In 1999, he was appointed general manager of Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne, which is one of four Australian golf courses to feature in the world top 100 ranking. During this assignment, he coordinated the 1999 Australian PGA tournament.

"We are proud that Emaar has appointed Troon Golf to manage The Montgomerie, Dubai. Our goal is to make this upmarket facility the premier golf destination in the Middle East," said Ramsay.

"We launched a unique golf membership, The Montgomerie Citizenship, at the recent Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament.

"We are very excited about the May launch of the Troon Golf institute featuring the finest school of golf education. The golf course will officially open in October this year, but will have limited preview play for international guests and UAE residents from this month."

According to David Spencer, director sales and marketing at Troon Golf, everything at The Montgomerie, Dubai will encompass the traditions and flavour of Arabic culture and hospitality.

"Troon Golf will work diligently with all facets of business in Dubai to help create The Montgomerie, Dubai as a 'must' destination on the world golf stage," Spencer said.
