STARWOOD Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and its award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest programme unveiled a new global promotion, SPG Better by the Night, where members registered for the promotion can earn unlimited bonus Starpoints during the earning period until December 20, 2012.  Members will receive up to three times their normal Starpoint awards at more than 1,000 participating hotels and resorts worldwide, with the potential to earn additional bonuses on reservations made through the new SPG App for iPhone or SPG.com, and for their check-ins on synced Foursquare accounts.

“We continue to provide our members with opportunities that allow for more choice and more flexibility.  Better by the Night gives members the ability to earn more Starpoints not only through their stays around the world, but through their favourite platforms whether it’s SPG.com, our enhanced mobile app or Foursquare,” said Chris Holdren, senior vice president, Starwood Preferred Guest.

SPG Better by the Night allows registered members to receive double Starpoints on all eligible stays of one or two nights, and triple Starpoints on eligible stays of three or more nights. An additional 500 bonus Starpoints will be awarded for bookings through the SPG App for iPhone, and 250 bonus Starpoints for stays booked on SPG.com at all 1,100 hotels and resorts in the SPG program. As an added social incentive, SPG members can earn 250 bonus Starpoints for checking in to any Starwood property on synced Foursquare accounts during a confirmed reservation within the earning period.

Launched in March of this year, the SPG App for iPhone utilises state-aware technology to create personalised guest experiences across Starwood’s nine distinct brands. The new application is part of Starwood’s on-going commitment to tech innovation to meet the needs of today’s connected global traveller.  For example, Starwood was the first in the industry to offer FaceTime customer service, a feature that’s built into the new SPG App. The app also includes fully integrated booking, member information, comprehensive hotel searches, travel details and access to social media channels. And as with SPG.com, members who book through SPG’s App for iPhone will always receive Starwood’s Best Rate Guarantee.

Amongst the participating hotels are W Paris-Opéra, Le Méridien Istanbul-Etiler, Hotel Alfonso XIII, a Luxury Collection hotel in Seville, and Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection hotel in San Sebastian, all of which opened this year. Other participating hotels include The Lanesborough and Aloft London Excel as well as the Sheraton Edinburgh which re-opened this spring following extensive refurbishments.

In the Middle East, SPG Better by the Night participating hotels include The St Regis Doha, W Doha Hotel & Residences, Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort, Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa, The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers.

SPG Better by The Night registration is open through November 30, 2012.
